The caliber of a journal is directly tied to the quality of the articles it publishes, which in turn relies heavily on the rigor of its refereeing process. Effective refereeing encompasses not only a thorough evaluation of content, but also prompt communication with authors and efficient processing from submission to publication. In essence, referees form the backbone of any reputable, peer-reviewed journal. Their role is pivotal, as succinctly captured by the phrase: "The world relies on journals, and journals rely on referees."
