Introduction


Dr. Dhiraj Jayantilal Trivedi is a distinguished academic and medical professional specializing in Medical Biochemistry. Holding a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry from Shivaji University and an M.Sc. from Bombay University, Dr. Trivedi’s deep foundational knowledge is complemented by practical expertise, including a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology. With a career spanning over three decades in medical education, he currently serves as a Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry at SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital in Dharwad, Karnataka, India, leveraging his comprehensive qualifications to lead both teaching and clinical service.

Dr. Trivedi has dedicated his career to medical pedagogy, having worked as a medical teacher since August 1989. His extensive professional journey has seen him rise through the ranks, from Assistant Lecturer to his current prestigious role as Professor and Department Head since March 2009. Beyond core academic responsibilities, he demonstrates strong administrative acumen as the Coordinator for Paramedical Courses and the In-charge of the Central Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at SDM Hospital, where he also contributes to key strategic initiatives like NABH accreditation. His influence extends nationally, as he serves on the examiners' panels for several major health universities across India.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Trivedi's work is concentrated in critical areas of clinical biochemistry, particularly focusing on Lectin-mediated studies of cell surface changes in metabolic disorders and the investigation of Oxidative Stress and diseases (including pre-eclampsia and myocardial infarction). His research has significantly contributed to diagnostics using novel methods, such as utilizing salivary biomarkers for oral cancer and periodontal disease. He has a substantial publication record in national and indexed journals and actively guides numerous postgraduate and engineering research projects, reinforcing his commitment to advancing medical science and its translational application.
