Introduction

I am Dr. Adity Sharma, currently serving as Professor at the Department of Pathology at Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, Assam. I completed my MBBS in 1987 and MD in Pathology in 1993 from Assam Medical College and Hospital.

My professional journey in medical education and pathology spans more than three decades. I began my academic career as a Demonstrator in 1994 and subsequently served as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor. I also had the opportunity to serve as Professor at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital before continuing my association with Assam Medical College and Hospital.

My areas of professional interest include histopathology, cytopathology, cancer research, and cancer epidemiology. I have received specialized training in Cytopathology from AIIMS, New Delhi, and in Molecular Study of Haemoglobinopathies from PGI, Chandigarh.

Research has been an important part of my academic career. I am presently associated with important cancer research initiatives at Assam Medical College and Hospital, including serving as the Principal Investigator of the Hospital-Based Cancer Registry and the Population-Based Cancer Registry, Dibrugarh Upper Assam. I have also been involved in research projects related to liquid-based cytology and cancer care services in India.

I have contributed extensively to scientific research through numerous publications in national and international journals. My research work covers a wide range of subjects, including cancer incidence patterns, breast and cervical cancer, head and neck cancers, cytopathology, haematological disorders, and other clinicopathological studies.

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to medical education, patient care, research, and the advancement of pathology services. I believe that continuous learning, scientific inquiry, and collaborative efforts are essential for improving healthcare and strengthening cancer control initiatives.

It is my privilege to contribute to the field of pathology and cancer research, and I look forward to continuing this journey of academic excellence, research, and service to society.
