Abstract

 Background: Ministry of Health And Family Welfare has launched a new initiative “KAYAKALP” on 15th ay 2015, to promote cleanliness and enhance the quality of care at public health facilities. The main aim of this initiative is to promote and recognise efforts of public health facilitiesin creating a healthy environment in the Society. Recognitions and Financial incentives are provided to public healthcare facilities for showing exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control. For district hospital level facilities,Winner award money is Rs 50 Lakhs for the states with 10 or more districts. The program was embraced by public health facilities with zest, zeal and enthusiasm and created a positive and health amongst them. After two years of its successful implementation it has shown remarkable impact on public health facilities. Conclusion: Through this article we can conclude that Kayakalp award scheme has promoted cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control practices in Public Health Facilities and inculcate a culture of healthy competition among them.
