Abstract

 Dhat syndrome is a cultural bound syndrome; patient mis-percept seminal discharges either in urine or stool, attributing to nightfall, masturbation and overindulgence in sex. Explore factors associated with it, reprehensibility of alternative and complementary medicine practitioners, as they may not always give correct advice to such a patient. 110 individuals participated in this Ethnographic-Qualitative study. We used a semi-structured questionnaire based on ICD-10 guidelines. 38 participants turned out with Dhat syndrome. Invariably, complained of undue concern regarding debilitating effects of seminal discharge. This syndrome accounts to psycho-engineered sexual myths and aggravated by spurious propaganda cultivated by quacks and faith healers.
