Abstract

Dr Judith Graham Pool was a pioneering American scientist whose discovery of cryoprecipitate transformed the treatment of haemophilia A. At a time when therapeutic options were limited, her simple yet revolutionary observation of factor-rich precipitate during plasma thawing led to an accessible, cost-effective and life-saving therapy. Pool’s work dramatically improved survival in children with bleeding disorders and reshaped haematology practice worldwide. Beyond her scientific breakthrough, she navigated gender-based barriers in academic medicine while advocating strongly for equity in science. Her legacy continues to guide modern transfusion medicine. Key Message: Dr Judith Graham Pool’s discovery of cryoprecipitate transformed Pediatric bleeding disorder care globally.
