Abstract

Dr. James A. Hanson is an influential figure in neonatal respiratory medicine whose discoveries reshaped the care of premature infants. His research on neonatal pulmonary physiology, oxygen regulation, resuscitation strategy, and ventilatory support introduced evidence-based approaches that revolutionized newborn survival worldwide. Combining clinical observation with scientific inquiry, Hanson addressed long-standing challenges in neonatal respiratory distress and provided frameworks for modern global guidelines. His contributions continue to define neonatal training, improve survival outcomes, and inspire future medical research.
