The Department of Kaumarabhritya and Department of Ayurveda Samhita Siddhanta evum Sanskrit, NK Jabshetty Ayurvedic Medical College, Bidar, hosted a 2 days National Level workshop Suvachaka-2025, (18/7/2025 and 19/7/2025) at Shri Ganpatrao Halwai Auditorium, N K Jabshetty Ayurvedic medical College Bidar. The event brought together around 450 delegates, including 350 students from N K Jabshetty Ayurvedic medical College Bidar Bidar and 100 students of other colleges (Raja Rajeshwari Ayurvedic Medical College And Hospital, Humnabad. Samata Ayurvedic Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Aland, Kalburgi, Shri Jagadguru Gavisiddheshwara Ayurvedic Medical College Koppal, SBG Ayurvedic Hospital Belagavi). The inauguration session began at 9:30 am in the divine Presence of Shri B.G. Shetkar, Secretary, Chidambar Shikshana Samsthe, Sri Swatmanand Swamiji, Member, Chidambar Shikshana Samsthe, Bidar, Dr. Havagirao Mailare, Administrative officer, Dr. Chandrakanth Halli, Principal, Dr. Deepadevi B, Head of the Department of Ayurveda Samhita Siddhanta, and Dr. Preeti A, Head of the Department of Kaumarabhritya. Day commeneced with the Prayer by Dr. Bhagyashree & Team, setting the tone for an enlightening day. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Chandrakanth Halli, Principal, warmly welcoming the distinguished guest and delegates, and Dr. Shailaja anchored the inauguration program, Dr. Bhavanishree, Assistant Professor, Department of Samhita Siddhanta evum Sanskrit, briefly read the Biodata of the guest Speaker, giving the audience and insightful overview of their Academic Journey, professional achievements, and significant contribution in the field, there by setting a respectful and engaging tone for the session. Introduction: Essential hypertension is a common psychosomatic disorder resulting from the interplay of physical, psychological, and lifestyle factors. In Ayurveda, such conditions are attributed to Vata-Pitta vitiation and imbalance of Manas Doshas (Rajas and Tamas). Abhyanga (therapeutic oil massage) is known to calm Vata and relieve stress, while Ashwagandha Taila possesses Balya (strength-promoting), Rasayana (rejuvenating), and Manas Dosha Shamak (mind-calming) properties. Objective: To assess the efficacy of Abhyanga using shwagandha Taila in the management of psychosomatic disorders with special reference to essential hypertension. Methods: An open-label, single-group clinical study was conducted on 30 randomly selected patients prediagnosed with essential hypertension (Stage I ). Patients received full-body Abhyanga with Ashwagandha Taila for 45 minutes daily in the morning, for 21 consecutive days. Blood pressure, pulse rate, and psychological parameters (stress, anxiety, sleep quality, and fatigue) were recorded before and after the intervention. Results: Significant reductions were observed in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p < 0.001). Stress and anxiety scores decreased markedly, and improvements were noted in sleep quality and fatigue also. No adverse events were reported during the study

The Yoga Vasishtha, a major text of ancient Indian philosophy, is believed to have been written by Valmiki. Through a dialogue between Rama and Vasishtha, the text explains the concepts of Advaita Vedanta, Maya, Brahman, and Nirvana. This study presents an interpretative analysis of the Yoga Vasistha’s contribution to Indian tradition and culture. The literature review examines authoritative sources. The discussion section evaluates its philosophical, cultural, and social implications, while the conclusion highlights its contemporary relevance.

Background: Mantra Yoga, an ancient mind-body practice involving the repetitive chanting sacred sounds or phrases, has been associated with numerous physiological and psychological benefits. From the medieval age, Mantra yoga the repetition of sacred sounds, words, or phrases has gained attention as a low-cost, accessible mind–body practice. Objective: To synthesise evidence on mantra yoga’s Physiological and health benefits for people with disabilities, including neurodevelopmental and acquired neurological conditions. Methods: Narrative review of experimental, clinical, and mechanistic studies on mantra/chanting practices and closely related mantra-based meditation, emphasising autonomic, neurophysiological, endocrine/immune, and cardiorespiratory outcomes. Results: Converging evidence indicates that mantra practices enhance parasympathetic activity and heart rate variability (HRV), reduce sympathetic arousal and cortisol, modulate brain activity (greater alpha/theta power; network “quieting”), and improve respiration and blood pressure regulation. In disability populations, small trials and pilots report benefits for motor coordination and attention in cerebral palsy, behavioural regulation in ADHD, social/communication skills in autism, and cognitive/emotional functioning after traumatic brain injury and stroke.

Milk has always been an important component of Indian diets since ancient times. In Ayurveda, milk is described as an elixir and has been used to treat many diseases. Ancient Indian grew up with various domestic animals in the surroundings depending upon the geographical region; hence, the humans consumed milk of these animals. The properties of Ashtadughda, that is the milk of eight animals domestically reared namely the milk of cow, she-buffalo, she-goat, she-camel, she-sheep, she-elephant and single-hoofed animals like horse, donkey etc., are described in Ayurvedic texts. According to these texts, each type of milk possesses distinct characteristics, and its use is based on specific circumstances. This article presents a review of the historical applications of eight different types of milk and their uses in treating various ailments as referenced in numerous Ayurvedic texts. Additionally, it outlines the scientific basis for the Ayurvedic indications, incorporating a contemporary viewpoint informed by relevant scientific research on these eight types of milk.

Ayurveda is a holistic science based on the concepts of Dosha, Dhatu, Mala, Panchmahabhoot etc. There are total 3 dosha which are the fundamental bio-regulatory energies that governs all physiological and pathological activities of the body and seven Dhatu which are the structural and functional tissues which are responsible for Sharira Dharana (maintenance of body). Rakta is one of the seven dhatu accepted by all Acharya but in context of Surgery Rakta is considered as a fourth Dosha by Acharya Sushruta as there is no existence of Body without Vata, pitta, kapha and Rakta and they are responsible for origin, sustenance and destruction of body. Hence, an attempt has been made to understand the physiological activities of rakta as a dosha and to appraise the importance of rakta as a dosha in maintenance of health and in manifestation of disease.

Adenoid hypertrophy is one of the most common conditions seen in ENT/Pediatric OPD and the most important cause of impaired nasal airflow and nasopharyngeal obstruction. The estimated prevalence rate of Adenoid hypertrophy in children and adolescents ranges from 42% to 70%. In Ayurveda, adenoid hypertrophy can be well correlated with Kanthashaluka, based on the marked similarities of the clinical features of these two disease entities. As per Ayurveda, specific treatment protocol can be applied in the form of topical treatment along with internal medication to manage this condition. In this article an attempt is made to understand the etiopathogenesis of Kanthashaluka w.s.r to Adenoid hypertrophy and to reveal role of topical treatment along with internal medication.

Abstract: The Brahma Mahapurana holds a significant place among the eighteen Mahapuranas, while it offers valuable insights on yogic discipline, it does not present yoga in a systematic philosophical way like the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. Accordingly, this review undertakes a comparative examination of Brahma Mahapurana’s yogic teachings alongside Patanjali’s Astanga Yoga. By exploring and contrasting the major strands of yoga, this study demonstrates that while the Brahma Mahapurana is structurally similar to Patanjali, it is essentially Puranic, emphasising (bhakti) devotion, dharma, and ethical behaviour, rather than the methodology of this body of knowledge. This paper illuminates the interrelation and the original devotional and ethical focus that are essential within the Puranic system of yoga, as seen from the respective perspectives of the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and Hathayoga Pradipika. The findings suggest that the Brahma Mahapurana advocate a holistic approach to attaining liberation, which synthesises philosophical understanding, ethical conduct, and bhakti.

Psoriasis is a prolonged immune mediated skin ailment, categorized by erythematous, scaly plaques prime affecting the elbows, knees, scalp, and trunk.Distressing approximately 0.5% to 3% of the global population, psoriasis has a noteworthy impact on quality of life and associated with numerous comorbidities including psoriatic arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and depression. The condition arises from a complex interaction between genetic susceptibility, environmental triggers and immune system regulation. Here is a case 62 year old male patient who reported to the outpatient department with complaints of frequent itching, scaling and erythematous patches over the scalp for the last eight years with erratic exacerbations during winter season. The patient also complained of occasional oozing, tenderness and psychological distress due to constant irritation and visible scaling over hair and shoulders. In ayurveda it can be correlated to Kitibha kustha. This case highlights the longlasting relapsing nature of scalp psoriasis and emphasis. No significant family history of psoriasis was noted. On clinical examination, multiple erythematous, well-demarcated plaques covered with thick, adherent, silvery-white scales were observed over the parietal, frontal, and occipital regions of the scalp. Differential diagnoses considered were seborrheic dermatitis, tinea capitis, and lichen simplex chronicus. However, based on classical clinical findings and diagnostic criteria, a final diagnosis of scalp psoriasis was made. This case highlights the chronic, relapsing nature of scalp psoriasis and emphasizes the need for classical ayurvedic management approaches to control symptoms, improve cosmetic acceptability, and enhance quality of life in geriatric patients. Early recognition, differential diagnosis, and patient-centred holistic care are crucial for long-term management.

Introduction: Influenza-like illness (ILI), particularly the H3N2 subtype, presents with acute fever, sore throat, cough, and systemic symptoms affecting respiratory function. Ayurveda recognises these as Vata-Kaphaja Jwara, managed through dosha-specific herbal formulations targeting the respiratory system (Pranavaha Srotas). Case Findings: A 27-year-old male student presented with a 5-day history of high-grade fever, dry cough, pharyngitis, throat congestion, fatigue, chills, and cold extremities. Clinical examination revealed Vataja pulse, posterior pharyngeal erythema, and Ashta Vidha Pareeksha consistent with Vata-Kapha predominance. Diagnosis: probable H3N2 ILI/Vata-Kaphaja Jwara. Results: Treatment comprised Dashamoolarishtam (20 mL BD mixed with water) and Vyoshadi Vatakam (10 g TDS with arishtam) for seven days with dietary regulation. Sequential oropharyngeal images showed resolution of erythema and tonsillar swelling. Symptoms resolved completely within 7 days; vitals normalised without adverse effects. Conclusion: Classical Ayurvedic management effectively resolved ILI/VataKaphaja Jwara in this case, demonstrating the feasibility of integrative care. Controlled studies are warranted.

Burn wounds in the perianal region are difficult to treat because the area is constantly exposed to stool contamination, has complex anatomy, and is at high risk of infection. In modern medicine, such wounds often need regular dressing, strict hygiene. Ayurveda provides alternative treatment options that may help to reduce chances of infection and healing process. In this case report, a 54 year old male having an Itartha Dagdha Vrana (accidental burn wound) in the perianal region caused by a hot water sitz bath. The patient had a second-degree burn with pain, discharge, unhealthy granulation tissue, and difficulty sitting and passing stool. The treatment was done by daily wound hugineand local application of Katupila Ghrita, antibiotic and analgesic were given for 5 days. Triphala gugulu (500 mg) was given TDS after meal, Erand bhrishta haritaki churna (5mg) was given HS and Panchvalkal kwath (Q.S.) was given for sitz bath daily. Pathya Apathya was advice. Marked improvement was noted within 5 days, with reduction in slough, discharge, local heat, and tenderness. By the 11th day, healthy granulation tissue had formed, and complete healing occurred by the 26th day with minimal scarring. The healing effect of Katupila Ghrita may be due to its Lekhana, Stambhana, antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant actions. This case suggests that Katupila Ghrita can be an effective, cost effective option for treating perianal burn wounds.
