Abstract

Background: Moyamoya disease is a progressive occlusive cereberovascular disorder that usually presents as recurrent strokes in pediatric population. There is paucity of literature on anesthetic management of pediatric patients in the Indian subcontinent. The main objective of our study was to evaluate the perioperative course and outcome of children undergoing revascularization surgery of Moyamoya disease.

Methodology: A series of 11 patients aged between 5 months-10 years age group were analyzed overa period of one year.

Conclusion:– Anaesthetic management involves maintainence of cerebral blood flow and cerebral perfusion pressure and
normothermia to avoid perioperative ischemic complications.
