Background of the study: Alcoholism is primarily a chronic disease with genetic, psychosocial and environmental factors influencing its development and manifestations. This study entitled “Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding alcohol and substance abuse among Industrial” conducted at Essar motors in Bangaluru. Objectives: To assess the knowledge regarding alcoholism and substance abuse among Industrial, to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge by comparing the pre and post interventional level of knowledge score of industrial workers on alcoholism and substance abuse, to associate the knowledge level with socio demographic variables. Material and Methods: A Quasi-Experimental research approach with one group pre-test and pot-test design was utilized in this study. 60 workers of ESSAR motors, Bengaluru selected by simple random sampling. Result: The findings revealed that in the pre-test, out of 60 industrial workers, 26 [43.33 %] had moderate knowledge, 30 [50%] had adequate knowledge and 4[6.66%] had inadequate knowledge regarding alcohol and substance abuse, there is statistically significant association between the pre-test knowledge and demographic variables such as monthly income and other variable are not associated with knowledge level. Conclusion: This study also showed that there is a great need to educate peoples especially industrial workers regarding alcohol and substance abuse.
