Abstract

Fashion designers rely on various sources to inspire their creations. Concept boards, collages of color and fabric swatches, and magazine cutouts help designers visualize and communicate their ideas. Printed sources, such as magazines and trade papers, are used to analyze trends and ensure designs fit into the mainstream of fashion. Designers also draw inspiration from the past, exploring historic and folk costumes in museums, books, and flea markets. This article explores the various sources of inspiration that fuel the creative process in fashion design.
