Sir George Frederic Still (1868–1941) is internationally recognized as a foundational figure in modern paediatrics. His pioneering work provided the earliest clinical descriptions of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (Still’s disease) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). At a time when paediatrics was not yet defined as a specialty, Still argued that children possess unique physiological and behavioural characteristics requiring dedicated clinical understanding. His contributions significantly influenced paediatric rheumatology, behavioural medicine, and child health. This review discusses his life, scientific achievements, clinical insights, challenges, and the enduring relevance of his work in contemporary paediatrics. Key Messages: Sir George Frederic Still revolutionized paediatrics by demonstrating that childhood diseases have distinct clinical profiles. His recognition of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis and early identification of ADHD laid the foundation for paediatric specialization, promoting a scientific, compassionate, and child-centred approach to medical care.
