Abstract
H.P.S. Sachdev is an eminent Indian pediatrician and clinical researcher whose work has significantly shaped modern pediatric nutrition and public-health guidelines. His research spans micronutrient deficiencies, childhood growth disorders, severe acute malnutrition, and evidence-based approaches to maternal child health. Through large-scale community studies and randomized trials, Dr. Sachdev has contributed pivotal data on vitamin A, zinc, and iron supplementation, demonstrating their impact on morbidity, mortality, and developmental outcomes in children. He has played a major role in advancing protocols for the management of severe acute malnutrition and improving growth monitoring strategies in lowresource settings. Conclusion: Dr. H.P.S. Sachdev’s legacy is more than a list of research papers and awards; it is a testament to the difference one individual can make by committing wholeheartedly to science, service, and society. His contributions to pediatric care and child nutrition have saved and improved countless lives, especially among India’s most vulnerable children.
