Abstract

This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of water resources management (WRM) research across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, specifically focusing on Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, and Oman, over a 50-year period from 1974 to 2023. Utilizing data from the Web of Science database, the analysis encompasses 228 publications, examining metrics such as publication trends, country specific outputs, authorship patterns, and institutional contributions. The findings reveal significant growth in WRM research, highlighting critical water challenges faced by the region. The study emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts and interdisciplinary approaches to effectively address these challenges. Future research should prioritize innovative technologies and integrated management strategies that promote sustainable water use. Overall, this analysis provides valuable insights into the research landscape of WRM in the GCC, aiding informed decision-making for effective management of water resources.
