Spectral domain-Optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) provides information about the in-vivo histology of the retina. Diabetic retinopathy is associated with structural changes within the retina. Recently, disorganization of the inner retinal layers has also been shown to correlate with the final visual outcome.These changes can be observed by OCT, and correlate with the visual acuity.
