Abstract

Dr. James M. Perrin is a distinguished pediatrician and Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, widely recognized for his extensive contributions to child and adolescent health. Having led the Division of General Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and founded the Center for Child and Adolescent Health Policy, Dr. Perrin’s work integrates clinical care, research, and health policy development. His research spans asthma, middle ear disease, child hospitalization, health insurance, chronic childhood illnesses, and disabilities, with a strong emphasis on improving healthcare systems for children with special health care needs. He has played major leadership roles, including President of the American Academy of Pediatrics and founding editor of Academic Pediatrics. His contributions to autism research are notable through his leadership of the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network and the Autism Intervention Research Network on Physical Health.
