I am Mrs. Sophie Caleb (Samuel), a highly accomplished nursing professional and academician with over 18 years of comprehensive experience in both clinical practice and nursing education. My foundation is built upon specialized expertise as a Community Health Nurse (CHN), complemented by a robust educational background, including an M.Sc. in Nursing, an M.A. in English Literature and Sociology, an L.L.B., and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing. This diverse academic journey reflects my commitment to holistic development and my belief that "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use it to change the world," a philosophy I bring to every role.
My professional trajectory has been marked by progressive leadership and significant contributions to nursing education. I currently serve as a Professor cum Vice Principal at Datta Meghe College of Nursing, leveraging my prior experience as an Associate Professor and Officiating Principal at other esteemed institutions. My roles have consistently involved advanced teaching, research guidance (having guided over 30 research projects), and active participation in university activities, including serving as an Internal and External Examiner and a Program Officer for the National Service Scheme (NSS). I am dedicated to shaping the next generation of competent and ethical nursing professionals.
Furthermore, I actively engage with the broader healthcare and academic communities through continuous professional development. I hold life memberships with the TNAI and CMAI and have organized, attended, and presented at numerous workshops, conferences, and training programs across various disciplines, from neonatal resuscitation and geriatric care to research methodology and legal aspects of healthcare. My dedication to clinical excellence, research, and academic leadership, validated by recognitions like the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lifetime Achievement National Award, positions me as a dedicated, well-rounded leader ready to drive impactful change in both education and community health.
