Introduction


Dr. M. Neela is an accomplished academician, researcher, author, research supervisor, editor, reviewer and higher education professional with 18 years of rich academic experience. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Business Administration at Cauvery College for Women (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. She possesses a multidisciplinary academic background with qualifications including M.Com., MBA, MHRM, M.Phil., PGDCA and Ph.D. She has also qualified UGC-NET in Commerce and Management and SET in Commerce and Management, reflecting her strong academic expertise in both Commerce and Management disciplines.

Dr. Neela has made significant contributions to teaching, research, student mentoring, extension activities and academic administration. Her areas of academic interest include Commerce, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Research Methodology, Organizational Behaviour and contemporary management practices. Her extensive teaching experience and multidisciplinary qualifications have enabled her to contribute effectively to undergraduate and postgraduate education and to support students in both academic and professional development.

As a researcher, Dr. Neela has developed a strong record of scholarly contribution. She has actively participated in more than 100 State, National and International seminars, conferences and workshops, presented 70 research papers, and published more than 50 research articles in UGC-referred, Scopus-indexed and other reputed journals. Her research interests cover a broad range of contemporary issues in Commerce and Management, including human resource management, employee-related issues, marketing, consumer behaviour, finance, entrepreneurship, education and organizational development.

Dr. Neela is also a recognized Research Supervisor. She has successfully guided three Ph.D. scholars and is currently guiding four research scholars. She has served as a Doctoral Committee Member and External Examiner for Ph.D. and M.Phil. programmes. Her research expertise has also enabled her to evaluate more than 10 Ph.D. theses and conduct 13 Ph.D. Viva Voce examinations. These responsibilities demonstrate her experience in research evaluation, doctoral supervision and maintaining academic standards in higher education.

An important dimension of Dr. Neela's academic contribution is her work as an author. She has authored six academic books titled Management Concepts, Research Methods in Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurial Development, Stress Management and Services Marketing. She has also contributed chapters and academic materials for college publications. Her authorship reflects her commitment to developing learning resources and making academic knowledge accessible to students and fellow educators.

Dr. Neela has demonstrated considerable commitment to digital learning and continuous professional development. She has successfully completed 16 NPTEL courses, earning Elite + Silver medals in nine courses and achieving Topper status in four courses. She has received recognition as an NPTEL Discipline Star twice, as well as NPTEL Motivated Learner, NPTEL Enthusiast and NPTEL Domain Scholar. She has also contributed feedback featured on NPTEL's official YouTube channels and has served as an NPTEL Mentor and Translator, supporting wider access to quality digital learning.

Her commitment to educational innovation is further demonstrated through her work in intellectual property and digital content development. She holds three patents and has developed more than 10 e-content modules. These achievements demonstrate her interest in educational technology, innovation, digital transformation and the creation of technology-enabled learning resources.

Dr. Neela has also made substantial contributions to community engagement and student development, particularly through her long-standing involvement in the National Service Scheme (NSS). Her NSS leadership spans more than 16 years, during which she has served in several important capacities, including South Zone Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp Coordinator, Contingent Leader for the National Integration Camp, Advisory Committee Member and Pre-RD Parade Selection Committee Member of Bharathidasan University. In 2023, she coordinated the NSS South Zone Pre-RD Parade Camp in association with the Regional Directorate of NSS, Chennai, involving 200 volunteers and 10 Programme Officers from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Volunteers selected through the programme subsequently participated in the Republic Day Parade 2024 in New Delhi, marking a significant achievement for the institution.

Her academic and social contributions have earned her more than 40 awards and recognitions. Notable recognitions include the Tamil Nadu State Best NSS Programme Officer Award, Bharathidasan University Best NSS Programme Officer Award, Naari Shakthi Award for Best Woman Researcher, COVID Acharya Award, Best Virtual Tutor Award, Best Book Award, Shero of the Year Award, Dr. Joseph Ganadickam Memorial Outstanding Teacher Award, Distinguished Academician Award, Best Teacher Awards from reputed institutions and Best Social Worker Award**. She has also received several certificates of appreciation for her academic and professional sessions.

Dr. Neela is actively involved in editorial and peer-review activities. She serves as an Editor and Reviewer for multiple international peer-reviewed journals, contributing her expertise to the evaluation and development of scholarly research. Her editorial and reviewing experience, together with her research publications, doctoral supervision and examination responsibilities, makes her well qualified to contribute to the academic quality and integrity of scholarly journals.

She is also associated with several professional and academic organizations, including the Universal Society for Research and Development, Association of Global Academicians and Researchers (AGAR), and Gurukal Network of Learners, through professional memberships. Her continued involvement in academic networks reflects her commitment to professional growth and scholarly collaboration.

Dr. Neela has contributed significantly to academic policymaking and curriculum development. She has served as a Board of Studies Member and University Nominee for institutions including Srimad Andavan College, Tiruchirappalli, Park's College, Tiruppur and NGM College, Pollachi. She also regularly serves as a Resource Person for Faculty Development Programmes, NET/SET coaching programmes, Entrepreneurship programmes and Intellectual Property Rights awareness sessions.

Her research and academic leadership have also resulted in externally funded academic initiatives. She successfully secured an ICSSR grant of ₹99,000 to organize a National Seminar on the Impact of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on Higher Education. She has also contributed to the My Bharat Online Training Programme conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and participated in initiatives such as the Rakshin Project.
