All deeper burns i.e. second degree deep dermal and full thickness heals by scarring that causes restrictions in the movements and aesthetics issues for patients. Burn reconstructive surgery requires that the defects after release should be replaced with donor tissues which have matching texture and colour like autologous skin grafting or flap surgeries. Autologous platelet rich plasma contains concentrated platelets after graded centrifugation, which has various applications like alopecia, acne, reproductive techniques etc. Here we are using this method to look for role in take of Split Thickness Skin graft in post burn contracture neck. The main complication of this procedure is risk of graft failure. Autologous platelet rich plasma (APRP) as the name suggests is concentration of the patient’s own platelets in a small amount of plasma. It is enriched by growth factors and it acts as a fibrin sealant and has various properties. Its important application is in skin grafting where it aids as a fibrin sealant and also aids in the take of the graft by enriching it with growth factors and promoting angiogenesis The purpose of this case report is using autologous platelet rich plasma as a adjuvant method for accelerating take of Split Thickness Skin Graft (STSG) in post burn contracture of neckwith better prognosis.

Loco-regional flaps are most common surgeries performed in field of plastic surgery. Post operatively patient may need to maintain the particular position to preserve the vascularity of the flap to prevent the direct pressure application over the recently raised loco regional flap. Local flaps over the back will be very cumbersome for the patient postoperatively to maintain the prone and lateral position to prevent the direct pressure over the flap. In this case report we will assess the role innovative splint to prevent the application of direct pressure over loco regional flap in lower back.

Thermal energy is essential for human life in modern society. However, a consequence of using thermal energy is burns.1 Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is an emerging new modality of treatment in cosmetic surgery and is gaining importance in burns. In this study low level laser therapy was performed to improve outcome of wound healing in adult thermal burns patient.

Background: Pediatric burns are reported to be amongst the most prevalent traumatic injuries around the world, most of which occurring in accidental domestic environment, that are preventable. Currently little literature exists regarding pediatric burns in Indian scenario, with this study, we aim to suggest measures that may be taken to prevent burns in children. Methods: It is a retrospective study of pediatric burns patient under 18 years of age during the period of January 2014 to May 2018 presenting to JIPMER tertiary burn centre. Data was collected from hospital online record system and discharge summaries. Epidemiological data were analysed with children divided into three group’s viz. 0–6 years, 7–12 years, and 13–18 years respectively. Results: A total of 418 pediatric burn cases were studied. Male and female children were nearly equally affected. 96.4% burns were accidental in aetiology. Scald burn was the most common mode of injury overall (61.48%), whereas thermal & electrical burns were more common in older children. In our study, overall mortality was 15.31%. Conclusions: Pediatric burns are preventable burns with chronic complication sequel. Aggressive management helps to reduce the mortality and morbidity. This study highlights the aetiology and risk factors for burns in children of different age groups, which help in establishing safety measures. Through a multidisciplinary approach, considerable progress can be made not only in lowering the death rates, but also in achieving the goal of physical, social and psychological rehabilitation in paediatric burn patients.

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is the second most common skin cancer. This review article gives an overview of cSSC in terms of etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, prognosis, clinical presentation, work up, treatment and highlights various guidelines like American College of Radiology, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network's, Dermatological Cooperative Oncology Group of the German Cancer Society, British Association of Dermatologists Guidelines for the management of cSSC

Negative wound dressing, also known as Vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) dressings, have become a staple for most plastic surgeons when managing difficult wounds. But now a days, the scope of VAC dressings has broadened and includes burn wounds, open fracture wounds, radiation wounds, post-surgical wounds, abdominal wounds and post-traumatic complex wounds. This review discusses the mechanism of action of VAC, applications, pros and cons of this technique and finally, the future directions and research that must be done to refine this technique.
