Pain perception in neonates and the incidence of painful procedures have been important in recent literature. This review examines the current evidence surrounding these topics: however, the implications for nursing practice remain critical. Although neonates may not articulate their pain, they experience it profoundly. Nurses must, therefore, be aware of the various factors influencing pain perception because effective management is essential. Research indicates that pain in neonates can lead to long-term consequences; this underscores the necessity for appropriate interventions. Ultimately, understanding pain perception not only enhances patient care but also informs nursing strategies, thus improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.
 

Pediatric nurses are those nurses which care for children belonging to all age groups in a variety of healthcare settings. They possess ample knowledge about growth and development, as they are mainly involved in all round development of the child. Also, they include family members in their efforts to care for their child. Being a paediatric nurse is a highly satisfying, yet an extremely demanding career. Apart from high empathy and sensitivity skills a person should possess excellent communication skills so as form a close bond with the child. One of the main aspect of the job is understanding what the child is trying to say. Interpreting a child’s behaviour forms the crux of the job as they often won’t be explain clearly what or how they are feeling.Not only this job requires patience, but dedication also. It gets ramified many times when we include the concept of culturally sensitive care. Cultural attributes of children and families, including race, ethnicity, language, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, and socioeconomic status etc will always be a matter of great importance and the attending nurse has to be understanding to them so as to be able to provide effective healthcare. This paper effectively highlights how being culturally sensitive, can quickly form a deeper bond between the attending nurse and the patient and aid in quicker recovery. Thus, making the nurses more tolerant towards different ethnicities and cultures by training programmes will benefit the community in the long run.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) can be defined as a group of structural cardiac disorders that occur during the fatal period. The incidence rate of CHD is about 8 to 9 per 1000 live neonates, out of which, 25% are considered severe, even with improvements in modern therapeutic options. Children with CHD are still suffering from many long-term issues that include reduced average longevity, high chances of heart failure, and increased risk for physical, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric health complications. Still, CHD’s concerns for depressive states, anxiety, and neurological disabling conditions in children tend to lower their quality of life. This article emphasizes the factors decline and strategies to enhance the Quality of life (QOL) of children afflicted with CHD which include surgical management, family environment, parent’s health status, and follow-up guidelines
 

A Quasi-experimental study was undertaken to ssess the effectiveness of art therapy on anxiety among hospitalized school age children at Ankara Hospital, Kompally, Hyderabad. Structured Anxiety Rating Scale was prepared by researcher and standardized Facial Affective Scale was used to ssess the level of anxiety of hospitalized children. The reliability of tool was found by using split half method and Karl Pearson correlation coefficient and reliability value of tool r-0.947 which indicates tool was reliable, feasible and appropriate. The main study was conducted at Ankura Hospitals, Kompally, Hyderabad, Telangana after obtaining a formal permission from higher authorities. The sample was selected through Convenience sampling technique. The purpose of the study was explained to parents of hospitalized children before conducting the study and their consent was obtained. The results were analyzed based on the scores obtained using Facial Affective Anxiety Scale and Rating Scale on anxiety of hospitalized children  Statistical analysis was made with the help of split half method and Karl-Pearson correlation coefficient, the calculated ‘r’ value was 0. 947.The study was found feasible, practicable, applicable and significant.  The scores in the post-test of experimental group (Facial Affective Scale) were 1.40 mean with 0.503 S. D whereas in control group 3.40 mean with 0.681 S.D. Since the value for t-statistic with 38 degrees of freedom is 10.572 with p-value 0.000 which is less than 0.05, we reject the null hypothesis. That is there is a significant difference between post-level of anxiety of experimental and control group among school age children admitted in pediatrics general ward. The scores in the post-test of experimental group (Anxiety Rating Scale) were 3.2 mean with 1.76 whereas in control group 28.05 mean with 7.451 S.D. Since the value for t-statistic with 38 degrees of freedom is 14.513 with p-value 0.000 which is less than 0.05, we can reject the null hypothesis. That is there is a significant difference between post-level of anxiety of experimental and control group among school age children admitted in pediatrics general ward.

The present study was ssess the knowledge of staff Nurses regarding prevention of perineal tear. Objectives: To assess knowledge of Staff Nurses regarding Prevention & Management of perineal tear during normal delivery. Methodology: Research, Design - Non-experimental descriptive design, sampling technique - Convenient sampling, Research Setting - selected Hospital of City Result: Here we can discuss about the level of knowledge of staff nurse as per set the criteria for poor, average and good. With regard to scores, 0 (0%) staff nurses had poor knowledge, 8 (40%) staff nurses had average knowledge and 12 (60%) staff nurses had good knowledge regarding prevention and management of perineal tear. 25% percentage of staff nurses had average knowledge and 75% of them had good knowledge regarding concept of perineal tear. 20% of them had poor knowledge, 45% of them had average knowledge and 35% of them had good knowledge regarding Prevention of perineal tear. 15% of them had poor knowledge, 15% of them had average knowledge and 70% of them had good knowledge regarding Management of perineal tear. Conclusion: On the basis of results, it is concluded that maximum number of staff nurses were had average knowledge and minimum had good knowledge regarding prevention and management of perineal tear. On the basis of results, it is can also conclude that the knowledge level of staff nurses was no significant associated with demographic variables like educational qualification, work experience, experience in labour room and previous knowledge.

Dengue is a very common health problem in India and its awareness is vital among children so as to prevent incidences of the same. This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching on dengue fever among adolescents of selected higher secondary school. The objectives of the study were to:  To determine the pre-test & post-test level of knowledge regarding Dengue fever and its prevention among Adolescents in selected Higher Secondary school.• To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding Dengue fever and its prevention among Adolescents in selected Higher Secondary school.• To find out association between post-test level of knowledge regarding Dengue fever and its prevention among Adolescents in selected Higher Secondary school and their socio demographic variables in the study group. In this study effectiveness of Structured teaching program on knowledge of Dengue fever among Adolesents in higher secondary school was studied using structured questionnaire on knowledge regarding Dengue fever. The research design used in the study was one group pretest and post testpre experimental design. The knowledge regarding Dengue fever was assessed before and after the Structured teaching. The conceptual frame work of the study was based on Landwing Von bertalanffy General System Theory. The study was conducted among 60 Adolescents whose age was between 12 and 15 years of selected Higher Secondary school by using simple random sampling technique. The data was collected and analyzed based on objectives of the study using descriptive and referential statistics. Mean value of pre-test was 15.16 which increased to 21.75 in post-test. The study revealed that the structured teaching increased the knowledge on Dengue fever among Adolescents in selected Higher Secondary school. The effectiveness of structured teaching was independent of the selected demographic data and baseline data.The study concluded that structured teaching program can play a vital role in imparting knowledge to High Secondary school Students.
