Food waste plays an important role in economy and its wastage has straight impact on environment. The food wastage reduction in any area clearly would lead to better land usage and water resources management. The current study based on survey method was conducted in district Baramulla of Kashmir valley during 2024 by designing a suitable questionnaire to bring out the current methods practiced for food waste disposal in the study area. The data collected from 400 respondents selected at random from the study area on their consent was analysed statistically using appropriate statistical methods. It was found that food waste is directly or indirectly responsible for in environment pollution in the study area. Food wastage is an environmental, social as well as a religious crime. so every individual should play his/her role in its reduction.

Water, the essence of life, is vital for the existence of all organisms. However, our interaction with water faces significant challenges. As society progresses, our methods of obtaining and using water have evolved. We have shifted from natural water sources to the convenience of tap water and now rely heavily on bottled water. The widespread consumption of bottled water, treated with reverse osmosis and supplemented with minerals, presents a paradox. Despite being marketed as healthier, it may lead to mineral deficiencies due to the removal of essential elements like sodium, potassium, and lithium. The absence of lithium, once known for inducing drowsiness but now linked to insomnia, is of particular concern. Research has revealed the presence of harmful microplastics in plastic bottled water, posing health risks. Despite initial health benefits, plastic bottles have become ubiquitous, harbouring health hazards for users, including celebrities and travellers. Mismanagement of water resources is evident in water-stressed cities like South Africa and Bengaluru, emphasizing the need for conservation. To address these challenges, we must shift our approach. Transitioning to UV filtration, promoting reusable non-plastic bottles, and providing purified water in refillable glass containers are crucial steps. Failing to act risks worsening health and environmental issues, underscoring the urgency of embracing change for the well-being of current and future generations

The SoItoposheet 47 I, Cartosat-2 DEM and Landsat-8 satellite image of the area were used for planning of MPKV West watershed. Thematic maps such as Base map, Slope map, Soil map, Land use / Land cover map, Drainage map and Catchment map were prepared.In the drainage network, high priority for land treatments was found to 1st and 2nd order streams,due to steeper slopes the runoff generation would have been increased and for water storage structures high priority was found to 3rd and 4th order streams because of gentle and nearly flat slope. One farm pond in catchment-A twelve nalabunds are proposed under drainage line treatment in entire west part. Twenty Four loose boulder structures, especially in upper reaches of first order streams, are suggested. Under the area treatment continuous contour trenches with plantation (CCT/deep CCT + Plantation) in 102 ha area are proposed in catchment A to F. Plantation on 67 ha have been proposed in catchment-A and densification of plantation is proposed on 222 ha area in catchment-A.

Accountability serves a corrective purpose by making it feasible to address individual or group concerns and penalize misbehavior by the people and institutions in question. Based on the study of waste management in different regions of Kerala, the paper discusses and explores accountability and environmental concerns in solid waste management. Effective solid waste management systems are required to promote greater human health and safety. This is a qualitative - case study done with the help of secondary information obtained from different sources. The research work with a similar end was also reviewed to clarify the conceptual and descriptive parts of the study. The investigation analyzes how far decentralized waste management in Kerala aims to fix operational excellence in solid waste treatment. It also discusses the significant hurdles the area must overcome to achieve and retain this title.
