Abstract
Autoimmune encephalitis is a form of brain disorder with varied presentation. Due to this reason it is usually misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed in these patients and is often confused with viral encephalitis or other pathologies. The diagnosis is always challenging as the routine blood workup and studies like the electroencephalogram and brain magnetic resonance imaging are normal. The cerebrospinal fluid analysis and immunological study is confirmatory for the disease. In this case report, we discuss a young female in her 20’s having symptoms of acute autoimmune encephalitis, the challenges in diagnosis and treatment outcome in this young female.
