Dr. Rajendra Basappa Uppin is a highly distinguished and veteran Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 36 years of teaching experience and a career spanning clinical practice, academic leadership, and international specialist roles. He holds an M.S. (Ortho) and an MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, and is an A.O. Fellow from A.O. International-Switzerland.Dr. Uppin's extensive career includes holding the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at KLE University's J.N. Medical College, Belagavi, and serving as a specialist in Orthopaedics for the Ministry of Health in both Oman and Saudi Arabia. He currently works as a Consultant at Vijaya Hospital and Trauma Center, Belagavi.His surgical and research expertise covers a wide spectrum of orthopaedics, with a strong focus on Trauma (AO Fixation techniques, complex fractures, and poly-trauma management), Joint Arthroplasty (Total Hip and Knee Replacement), and Metabolic Bone Diseases (Osteoporosis). He has been a dedicated examiner for both MBBS and PG courses and an active member of various international and national orthopaedic bodies.Dr. Uppin has contributed significantly to medical literature with numerous scientific papers and case reports published in state, national, and international indexed journals, and is involved in research, including clinical trials on low back pain and knee osteoarthritis. He also serves as the Editor of the Journal of Orthopaedic Education.
