Introduction

I am Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, a dedicated academic and administrator currently serving as the Chairman and Professor in the Department of Information Science and Library Management at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, I've ascended through the academic ranks, holding positions from Lecturer to my current professorship. My career objective is to be a dynamic and innovative educator, committed to equipping students with the professional expertise to efficiently organize, retrieve, and disseminate the right information using advanced information and communication technologies. This commitment is underpinned by a deep-seated belief in fostering critical thinking, digital literacy, and research skills in the evolving landscape of knowledge management.

My academic foundation is robust, culminating in a Ph.D. from the University of Rajshahi, where my research focused on a "Scientometric Analysis of Literature on Public Health." I also hold a first-class first position in my Master of Social Science and a first-class second in my Bachelor of Social Science, both in Library and Information Science, earning me the prestigious University Prize and UGC Scholarship. I have continually sought professional enhancement through advanced training, including an International Training Programme (ITP) on Digital Libraries as a VLIR-UOS scholar in Belgium and courses on advanced topics like Cataloguing (ALA) and Greenstone Digital Library software. My early career also provided crucial practical experience as a Library Circulation Officer and Assistant Library Officer in private higher education institutions.

As an active researcher, my scholarly output is extensive, with a significant portfolio of publications, including numerous journal articles and book chapters on topics spanning Scientometrics, Cloud Computing in libraries, E-Learning, and Open Access. I am involved in ongoing research projects, such as directing a study on the information-seeking behavior of multi-sectoral farmers in Bangladesh, funded by the UGC. My work has been recognized internationally, including achieving a Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Innovation driven Librarianship. I am also dedicated to academic peer review, serving on the editorial boards of several international journals. My professional life is committed to advancing the practice and pedagogy of Information Science to meet the demands of the modern, connected world.
