The use of cost-effective light source is innovation in the field of Plastic Surgery. Illumination of the operative field is usually in practice are with roof mounted light and focus lights. Head mounted Light source is a new addition available in market. It is available at higher cost. In this article, we describe the cost-effective head mount illuminating light sourcereadily available at a low cost, convenient to carry and easy to use. Wound inspection, Diagnosis of skin lesions, Tissue visualisation, suturing, surgery and suture removal made easy with the help of the cost effective head mount light source

Background: Washing machines can be seen in every household and there are few reports of upper extremity injuries caused by them. Here we discuss Our experience with this mode of injury and describe the pattern of cases seen by us over a three-year period and how they were managed. Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of injuries which happened due to washing machines over the last 3 yearsfrom August 2019 to August 2022. Follow up period ranged from 3 months to 2 years. Only injuries distal to the wrist joint were included in the study. Results: There were 14 patients. Age group ranged from 8 to 18 years with a mean age of 12 years. All injuries were severe in nature with a bony involvement and there is a high possibility of vascular compromise. 7/14 cases had vascular compromise and vascular repair was attempted in 6 of the 7 cases. 2 cases had total amputation at the level of Distal interphalangeal joint. Conclusions: There is less awareness amongst the public regarding the health hazards of this seemingly innocuous household appliance and we feel there is a need for the public to be aware how devastating this appliance can be if due care is not taken and the companies also need to take efforts to develop improved safety protocols for the same. Prompt assessment and treatment with microsurgical techniques can help in managing and providing optimal outcome for such injuries

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) has been used in different fields, including healing of chronic ulcers like diabetic and pressure ulcers. Here we are using this method to look for role in FTSG donor site. Full-thickness skin grafts include full thickness of the epidermis and dermis where as split-thickness skin grafts (STSG) include the entire epidermis and only partial dermis. LLLT improves tissue perfusion and fibroblast proliferation, with increases in collagen synthesis accelerating wound healing. In this case report we highlight the role of Low level Laser therapy (LLLT) as a adjuvant agent for accelerating healing of full thickness skin graft recipient site.

Complete cover of both palmar and dorsal aspects of hand and wrist in severe hand injuries is a difficult task with a single flap. Several surgical techniques using local/distant/micro vascular flaps have been developed to resurface such defects. Even though free tissue transfer has become the norm nowadays this is often not possible in a resource constrained set up. Combined bilobed abdominal flaps can be safely raised to resurface large defects of the hand as they are simple, easy, and versatile, with the added advantage of decreased donor site morbidity. Here in our series, we discuss the different types of hand defects which we could resurface with the Bilobed sandwich flap and a few tips in planning this flap.

Aim of this case report is to assess the role of low level laser therapy in management of skin graft donor site healing. Clinical examination of the donor site before and after the use of low level laser therapy was done. Low level laser therapy is effective in healing of donor site wound. LLLT may be used in donor site healing.
