Antiepileptic drugs are used to treat neurological disorders characterized by recurrent epileptic seizures. Eslicarbazepine acetate (ESA), a promising antiepileptic agent, acts by blocking the voltagegated sodium channels. It is a prodrug and converted to eslicarbazepine. ESA is available in the market under different trade names like Aptiom, Zebinix, and Exalief. This review sheds light on the properties and essential ESA analysis methods like IR, HPLC, LC-MS, HPTLC, and UPLC.

Thyroid gland comprising of two lobes (right and left) is located in the neck region below Adams apple. The gland as such is responsible for secreting Triiodothyronine, Thyroxine and Calcitonin. The former two is responsible for various metabolic and developmental growth while the latter maintains calcium homeostasis. Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism occurs when the level of circulating thyroid hormones is either insufficient or surplus to meet body requirement. Various drugs have been used to modulate the function of thyroid gland and prevent life threatening outcomes.

Ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C, is an essential water soluble vitamin. Body needs vitamin C in order to form and maintain bones, blood vessels and skin, and its deficiency causes scurvy. Ascorbic acid has been widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industry for the preparation of various preparations. Analysis of ascorbic acid is an important and inseparable part of industries involved in any form of ascorbic acid preparation. This review highlights recent methods for ascorbic acid analysis like spectrophotometric method, high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), etc. Former methods for ascorbic acid analysis are also presented such as Titrimetric, spectrophotometric as well as HPLC method along with different detection methods.

Aim: The aim of the present study is to synthesis and evaluation of anti-microbial activity of novel series of quinoxaline 2, 3 Dione derivatives containing a 2-azetidinone (A1-A5) nucleus. Method: The synthesis of azetidinones by reacting with chloroacetyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine. All the title compounds were tested for their anti-microbial activity against gram-positive (staphylococcus aureus, staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus cereus and pseudomonas aereginosa) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli and klebsiella pneumonia) bacteria, fungal activity against (Aspergillus Niger and Aspergillus fumigates) at a concentration of 100,200µg/ml. Result: Antibacterial activity of synthesized compounds was tested against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria and the standard drug used for the study was ciprofloxacin. The chloro, fluro and bromo substitution in three derivatives showed significant antifungal activity when compared to standard. The hydroxy, nitro groups showed mild activity when compared to standard. Conclution: A novel series of quinoxaline 2, 3- Dione derivatives has anti-microbial activity so supplementary exploration has been needed to establish other pharmacological performance of these derivatives and in future it would be a most promising and leading derivatives for several ailments.
