 Cissampelos pareira Linn, an important medicinal plant, mainly found in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. The plant consists of plentiful isoquinoline alkaloids. C. pareira Linn has profound therapeutic and beneficial role in various medical and nonmedical conditions, and is used as traditional medicine. The occurrence of plant can be seen in various regions of India. The present review encompasses botanical information, description, geographical distribution, phytochemical, constituents and different therapeutic roles of C. pareira Linn.

A reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of Irbesartan, Amlodipine besylate and hydrochlorothiazide in bulk and Pharmaceutical formulation using RPC18 Column. The mobile phase (Acetonitrile: methanol: 50mM phosphate buffer adjusted to pH 3.2 with orthophosphoric acid) was pumped at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min in the ratio of 20:50:30% v/v and the eluent was monitored at 250 nm. Linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 5 30 µg/ml for Amlodipine Besylate, 20 120 µg/ml for Irbesartan and 10 60 µg/ml for Hydrochlorothiazide. The method was statistically validated and RSD was found to be less than 2% indicating high degree of accuracy and precision of the proposed HPLC method. Due to its simplicity, rapidness, high precision and accuracy, the proposed HPLC method can be applied for determining Irbesartan, Amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide in bulk and in pharmaceutical dosage form.

Cancer is a major public health burden in both developed and developing countries. Anticancer activity is the effect of natural/synthetic/biological/ chemical agents to reverse, suppress or prevent carcinogenic progression. Several synthetic and natural origin compounds are used to cure the disease but they also show toxicity and hence the research is going on to find new compounds and/or to improve upon the existing anticancer agents. Therefore an attempt has been made to review different in vitro and in vivo methods for estimating anticancer properties of synthetic and natural compounds.

A simple, rapid, precise and accurate RPHPLC method has been developed and validated for estimation of Imipramine Hydrochloride (IMH) in pharmaceutical dosage form. The method is carried out on Agilent C18 (25 cm x 4.6 mm i. d., 5 ) column with a mobile phase consisting of Methanol: Acetonitrile: Buffer (0.1M Sodium acetate adjusted to pH 4.8 using TEA) in the ratio of 50:30:20 v/v. The flow rate of mobile phase was 1.0 ml/min and the analysis was performed using UVVisible detector at 251 nm. The retention time of IMH was found to be 3.8 min. %RSD of the Imipramine Hydrochloride were and found to be 0.9% and 0.8% respectively. The developed assay method was validated by the guidelines of ICH Q2R1. The method was found to be linear within the range of 20120 µg/ml. The % RSD for intraday precision and interday precision for IMH were found to be 0.58% and 0.16% respectively. The mean recovery of the IMH is 99.83101.04%. The method has been successfully adopted for determination of Imipramine Hydrochloride in pharmaceutical dosage form in regular quality control analysis.

Background: This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical pharmacist intervention in lifestyle modification to improve glycemic control and diabetic peripheral neuropathic (DNP) symptoms in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: Onehundred diabetic peripheral neuropathic patients were randomly assigned into two groups, intervention and usual care group. The intervention group has received the three month’s lifestyle modification program by a clinical pharmacist. The usual care group was provided with standard medical services. Lifestyle modification was assessed by using summary of diabetes selfcare activity (SDSCA) scale while the Morisky scale was used to assess medication adherence. Douleur Neuropathique 4 (DN4), Neuropathic Pain Scale (NPS), and Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) were used to assess diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Results: Intervented patients had significant positive effects of selfmanagement education on selfreported dietary habits, physical activity and foot care. The percentage of patients scoring moderate and high adherence scores in the intervention group were 40.7% and 14.8% respectively after three months follow up. After lifestyle modification, significant reduction in the percent of response of patients feeling electric shock, tingling, and pin needle were observed in the intervention patients. Lifestyle modification significantly improved all assessed pain qualities, except of feeling cold to a greater extent than the usual care group. Significant reductions in pain interference were observed in intervention group after the three months of follow up. Conclusion: The provision of lifestyle modification has positive effects on glycemic control and clinically effective approach for patients with DPN that improves severity in peripheral neuropathic symptoms and pain interference.
