Background: Short sleep duration and poor quality of sleep, increasingly common in our modern society, have many effects on endocrine and metabolic function. Sleep is a major buffer for hormonal release, glucose regulation and cardiovascular function. Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) is the most common sleep disorder being diagnosed. Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome is a chronic condition that is characterized by repetitive upper airway obstructions resulting in intermittent hypoxia. Objectives: 1. To assess the existing knowledge regarding obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome among obese people. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching on knowledge regarding obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome among obese people. 3. To associate the knowledge scores with selected demographic variables. Material and Method: This study was based on interventional approach. In this study, 80 obese people are included. The setting of the study was selected area of Wardha. Result: The result shows that 58(72.5%) had poor level of knowledge score, 22(27.5%) of them had average level of knowledge score in pretest and in posttest none of them had poor and average level of knowledge, 76(95%) of them had good level of knowledge, 4(05%) of them had very good level of knowledge score. Hence planned teaching was effective, calculated ‘t’ value is more than tabulated value and calculated ‘p’ value was less than accepted level of p=0.05 thus H1 is statistically accepted. Conclusion: Hence it is concluded that planned teaching was found to be effective in improving the knowledge of obese people regarding obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome and obese people having increasing knowledge score after giving planned teaching.

Introduction: The intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) is a vital circulatory support device used for critically ill patients with heart disease. Due to its extensive application, it is essential for nurses to have a thorough understanding of IABP management and patient care. This study aims to assess the impact of nurse-led interventions on improving nursing officers’ knowledge and skills in the care of patients with IABPs in a tertiary care hospital setting. Materials and Methods: A randomized controlled trial involving 64 participants was conducted employing a true experi-mental design with a Pre-test-post-test control group. Participants were randomly assigned to either the Experimental or Control group using a coin-flipping method. In the Experimental group, partici-pants received a 60-minutePowerPoint-based lecture cum discussion session specifically focused on IABP care. Preand post-intervention knowledge data were collected using a self-structured ques-tionnaire from both groups. Data analysis involved paired and unpaired t-tests to compare knowledge scores within and between groups. Results: The findings reveal that out of 64 participants, 16(26.6%) had very low knowledge, 26(43.3%) had low knowledge, 18(30%) had average knowledge and none 0(0%) had high knowledge in pre-test. Post intervention, the mean knowledge score increased from 52.67 (pre-test) to 87.33 (post-test) in the Experimental group whereas the mean knowledgescore was slightly increased from 46.53 (pre-test) to 49.20 (post-test) in the Control group Conclusion: This study provides direct evidence supporting the effectiveness of nurseled interventions in enhancing nursing officers’ knowledge regarding the care of patients with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps.

Palliative care is the specialized medical and total care of those patients who are suffering from life limiting illnesses by a specially trained team of doctors, nurses and other professionals or specialists who work together in a team to provide care to the patients. Here, the disease is no longer responsive to the curative treatment or life prolonging treatments. The study objectives were (1) To assess the existing knowledge regarding palliative care among staff nurses (2) To find association between the knowledge regarding Palliative Care with selected demographic variables. Research approach used was descriptive approach which is a non-experimental design. The target population for the study was the Staff Nurses of selected hospitals of Central Region of Gujarat State and was selected by nonprobability purposive sampling technique. The total samples under the study were 50 Staff Nurses. The data collection was done through structured knowledge questionnaire which was intended to assess the knowledge of the Staff Nurses regarding the Palliative care. The results were established by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Data represents that 42 (84%) samples belonged to the age group of 21-31 years which is highest, 37 (74 %) samples were GNM and 12 (24%) samples were B.Sc and 1 (2%) samples were PB.B.Sc, 24 (48 %) samples had more than 5 years of clinical experience and 26 (52 %) samples had less than 5 years of clinical experience, 33 (66% ) samples were working in general wards, 2 (4%) samples were working in Labour Room, 6 (12 %) samples were working in O.P.D., 9 (18 %) samples were working in I.C.U., 17 (34 %) samples have undergone training related to Palliative care and 33 (66%) samples have not undergone any training related to Palliative care, majority 38 (76%) of staff nurses have moderately adequate level of knowledge and 6 (12%) of staff nurses have inadequate level of knowledge and 6 (12%) of staff nurses have adequate level of knowledge. There was no significant association between the knowledge scores and the demographic variables.

Background: Cardiac rehabilitation is a process where there is a multidisciplinary team of health professionals involved in encouraging and supporting patients with heart disease after cardiac events to obtain the treatment in achieving and maintaining a healthy heart by optimizing the status of patients’ physical, psychological, social and vocational wellbeing.3 Aim of the study: The present study was attempted to assess the effectiveness of structure teaching programme on knowledge regarding cardiac rehabilitation following coronary angioplasty among post myocardial infarction patients attending cardiac outpatient department in selected hospital at Bangalore. Methods: It is a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design which was commence on 60 post myocardial infarction patients attending cardiac outpatient department by means of non-probability convenient sampling technique and knowledge is assessed by the use of structured knowledge questionnaire. The data collected was subjected to analysis using descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of frequencies, percentage and inferential statistics like‘t’ test, and chi- square test for association. Ethical Consideration: After obtaining a formal permission from the medical officer, Raja Rajeshwari hospital, the main study was conducted according to the availability of the post myocardial infarction patients attending cardiac outpatient department. The subject was assumed the anonymity and confidentiality of the information provided by them. Results: Knowledge score of post Myocardial Infarction patients is 52(87%) in inadequate knowledge level in pretest and 54(90%) in post-test in adequate knowledge level group after Structure teaching programme. Paired ‘t’ value of knowledge was 34.87 which is greater than the table value 1.6711 at 0.05 of significant. Conclusion: Hence assessing the knowledge of post myocardial infarction patients regarding cardiac rehabilitation following coronary angioplasty are important to identify the risk factors, complication and also structure teaching programme can be effective in improving the knowledge regarding cardiac rehabilitation following coronary angioplasty among post myocardial infarction patients attending cardiac outpatient department.

Patient hospital fall cases are rising day by day and still many health care lacks awareness & policies to combat the problem. Factors which will precipitate the fall are Intrinsic & Extrinsic factors. Patient Hospital fall is classified into Anticipated, Unanticipated & Accidental fall with anticipated falls causing more number of falls as compared to other types. Certain factors like Medication, disease condition, lack of mobility etc. can cause patient to fall leading to minor too major injuries and even death. Fall prevention strategies like following fall risk assessment scale, developing vulnerable group who are at risk for fall, Some Hospital Design & facilities Modifications to be adopted & mobility related precaution & education to be imparted to the patient & relatives. To keep a track of patient fall or to know how far patient fall prevention strategies are effective can be assessed by maintaining KPI related to patient fall. SOP for post fall measures to be made for the earliest treatment of injuries & prevention of complications.
