Introduction: Resilience and self-efficacy are important factors in predicting nurses' willingness

to take care of patient with emerging infectious disease.15-16 Resilience is defined as the ability to

face adverse situations while remaining focused and optimist for the future. This attribute is

considered vital for clinical nurses who are continually confronted with competing priorities and

a complex health care system. Self-efficacy reflects a sense of confidence in individual’s capacity

to achieve tasks.7 It refers to the iraction, level of motivation and psychological state.8 The self[1]

efficacy of nurses is correlated with mental health, resilience and job burnout.9-11 This pandemic

has exerted a significant strain on the health care system worldwide. The workload, risks of

infection, uncertainty, stigmatization and lack of resources and accessibility has jeopardized the

psychological wellbeing of health care workers.17-19 Nurses experienced significant stress and

psychological difficulties.20

Objectives: The aim is to assess and compare the resilience, & self-efficacy among nurses who

worked in dedicated COVID hospital vs non-COVID hospitals.

Design and Methods: It’s a comparative, Non-experimental research design study in which

data was collected from 220 participate by convenience sampling technique from online survey

via google form by using socio demographic variables and Resilience Scale and self-efficacy scale.

The content validity revealed that tool was valid, and reliability was found within acceptable

range.

Data analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics.

Results: Resilience is high in nurses (27.42%) who have worked in COVID dedicated hospital

than nurses (22.37%) who have worked in Non-COVID dedicated hospital; Self-efficacy is high

in nurses (45.16%) who have worked in COVID dedicated hospitals than that of nurses (30.26%)

who have worked in Non -COVID dedicated

hospitals.

Discussion: Result indicates the vitality of self-efficacy and resilience among nurses.

During the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, health-care workers with low self-efficacy

experienced higher fear. Poor mental health outcomes among nurses warrants the

need to implement practice psychological interventions to clear the collapse of the

healthcare system in responding to the  pandemic and in particular all possible efforts should be undertaken to mitigate the risk factor.   Healthcare organizations should provide the support to the nurse with sufficient flexibility, and  greater investment in the addressing the global shortage of nurses should be given priority in

national health policy.

Basic life support is a specific level of pre-hospital medical care provided by trained responders, including emergency medical technicians, in the absence of advanced medical care. The primary goal of basic life support is to provide oxygen to the heart and brain and to sustain tissue viability until definitive electrical or medical treatment can restore the circulation. This can be done by an individual who has a basic knowledge about basic life support, through which a life can be saved. Hence, the study was undertaken to assess the level of knowledge on basic life support among young adults in a selected college of Thrissur. The objectives of the study were to assess the level of knowledge on basic life support among young adults, and to associate the level of knowledge on basic life support among young adults with their selected demographic variables. The design of the study was descriptive and was conducted among 60 young adults from St. Thomas College, Thrissur. The samples were selected by using purposive sampling technique. Data was collected by using structured knowledge questionnaire regarding basic life support. The result showed that 2(3.33%) samples had poor knowledge, 53(88.33%) had average knowledge and 5(8.33%) had good knowledge. There is significant association between the level of knowledge regarding basic life support among young adults with their selected demographic variables. The study concluded that, majority of the young adults had average knowledge on basic life support.
 

Life skills are a set of human skills acquired via teaching or direct experience that are used to handle problems and questions commonly encountered in daily human life. Given this, a study was undertaken to assess the impact of life skills on the academic performance of nursing students studying at selected colleges, in Thrissur. The main objectives were to assess the existing life skills among nursing students, to assess the academic performance of the nursing students, to find out the relationship between life skills and academic performance among the nursing students, and to find out the association between life skills among the nursing students with their selected demographic variables. A correlational research design was used and the sample was 170 B.Sc. Nursing students. A total enumerative sampling technique was used. The data was collected using a Demographic profile, academic performance, and structured life skill assessment questionnaire. The study findings revealed that out of 170 students, 93 (55%) students had high levels of life skills whereas 77 (45%) students had moderate levels of life skills. No students had a low level of life skills. The in-depth analysis pinpointed that out of 170 students, 112 students (7%) had distinction, 112 students had first class, 6 students had second class and 40 students failed in the university exam. A positive correlation of 0.241 was noted between the level of life skill and academic performance among nursing students at the level of 0.05 level of significance this depicted that level of life skill is directly proportional to academic performance.
 

Pregnancy and child birth are natural functions from which most women recover without complication. Postpartum haemorrhage is one of the leading causes of death in women who deliver after 20 weeks of gestation.

It is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as post-partum blood loss in excess of 500 ml, it is a clinical diagnosis that encompasses excessive blood loss after delivery of the baby from a variety of sites: uterus, cervix, vagina.

Every year more than 585,000 women die worldwide from pregnancy and child birth related complications.

This knowledge alerts the nurse to be particularly vigilant in monitoring these women so that excessive bleeding can be anticipated and minimized. Postpartum haemorrhage is a lifethreatening situation and an obstetrician’s nightmare.
