Amputations of the fingers are common life altering injuries encountered in the casualty. They can result from a variety of injuries, but they are most commonly caused by power tools or machines in the workplace. Surgeons have been able to successfully reattach fingers that have been amputated at the level of damage using modern micro vascular surgical techniques. In this article we will discuss about the principles of digit replantation.

Over the past decades, the application of “negative pressure” has evolved to a cornerstone in the treatment of acute and chronic wounds in almost all specialties.The cyclic NPWT system is similar to the intermittent mode in terms of using the same maximal sub atmospheric pressure, but the pressure never reaches zero in the cyclic mode. The role of cyclic negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in burns are widely studied. In this case report, cyclic NPWT was utilised in a child with scald burns to evaluate the efficacy.

Flaps are important in covering defects caused by trauma, tumour excision, lower limb vascular ulcer, or diabetes mellitus. Distal flap necrosis is one of the most common postoperative complications for flaps, leading to increased morbidity, prolonged hospital stay and need for repeat surgery.Pentoxifylline (PTXF) is a vasoactive agent that improves the flow of blood by reducing its viscosity. In our patient, we studied the usefulness of pentoxifyllineas an adjuvant to prevent flap necrosis.

Women's prisons as a regime. Experience of women's punishment and imprisonment in different regimes and community penalties changing the character of women's punishment. What’s going on and why are more and more women coming to criminal justice? Women offenders are a distinct minority in the criminal justice system, especially when compared to young men.

In many countries, the proportion of women incarceration has skyrocketed and is fast rising. This has surpassed the number of males incarceration. It is obvious that women prison is the most neglected area of the criminal justice system. The best way to say it is that criminal justice is created by men for men. The truth is that women's rights have always been questioned and jeopardised in prisons or outside prison walls. According to the most recent data available from the end of 2015, Indian prisons detained 17,834 women. Only 17% of these women are imprisoned in purely female prisons, with the rest kept in female enclosures of general prison systems. National and international organisations agree that the conditions of prisons and the women who live in them must be urgently improved (Women in Prisons India, 2018).

Mentoring in medical education has been going on globally over a long period of time. It has its own challenges and advantages. Since in the present day scenario the NMC has made it mandatory to implement mentoring, the challenge is now of handling a mandatory mentorship program. This review article explores the views and various aspects in relation to mentoring. The conclusions seen are that mentoring is shown to be beneficial to both the mentees and mentors. However certain impediments like time constraints, difficulty in opening up, confidentiality may hinder its effectiveness. Peer assisted mentoring and use of exploratory sessions to find their specific needs can help in improving the quality of mentoring.
