Graphical abstracts should represent the content of the text abstract. The abstract must not introduce information that is not contained in the text of the paper, but the graphical abstract should not contain new information or data that are not contained in the text of the paper.

Graphical abstracts should not duplicate any figure already included in the paper.

Graphical abstracts do not have titles, a caption, or note sections, so they should be completely self-explanatory.

Graphical abstracts should not exceed one third of the page of an A4.

Before sending figures to the graphical Abstract, please verify that your files meet our criteria:

  • The files are provided in our required file formats,.jpg or .tiff (see “Preparation” section) 
  • If the files are not in.jpg or .tiff or you are to convert to the accepted file type that allows the highest quality
  • The artwork is of high quality (correct resolution, not blur, stretch or pixelated)
  • The image size: 2500px or less
  • A file is provided per Graphical Abstract
  • White space and removes unnecessary elements
  • All text is in English and does not contain spelling or grammar errors
  • All fonts used are embedded and are standard font styles for journals - Arial or symbols
  • Font size is consistent
  • Lines are at least 0.3pt
  • Images do not contain layers or transparent objects
  • Files are labelled with the convention of name ([Manuscript ID] Graphical Abstract [number])
  • Files are provided separately from the manuscript file
  • Graphs downloaded from the web page are not acceptable
  • No copyright material can be used for graphic abstracts
