Introduction

I am Dr. Suman Kumar Kotwal, a highly dedicated medical professional specializing in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. My career is built upon a strong academic foundation, starting with my MBBS and culminating in an MD in Medicine from SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, and a DM in Endocrinology from the same esteemed institution in 2013. Currently, I serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and Endocrinology at Govt. Medical College, Jammu and Associated Hospitals, a role I have held since 2013. This position allows me to combine advanced clinical practice with active teaching and mentoring of the next generation of physicians.

My extensive work experience, particularly my time as a Postgraduate Resident and DM Scholar, provided rigorous, hands-on exposure across multiple medical subspecialties, including Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, and Nephrology. This comprehensive training has equipped me with a holistic approach to patient care, from managing acute emergencies in the ICU setting to performing critical procedures like lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirations. Crucially, my core expertise lies in complex endocrinological disorders, encompassing the full spectrum of diabetes mellitus management, thyroid disorders, pituitary pathologies, and metabolic bone diseases, which I actively address through dedicated specialty clinics and academic discussions.

Beyond clinical service, I am deeply committed to academic contribution and scholarly work. My research efforts have focused on critical areas such as the 'Anemia profile in predialytic CKD patients' and the 'Pattern of vitamin D status in newly detected type 2 diabetes mellitus patients,' both of which culminated in dissertations and subsequent publications in peer-reviewed journals. As an educator, I regularly participate in seminars, journal clubs, and bedside case presentations, ensuring that I remain at the forefront of medical advancements. I am committed to leveraging my specialized knowledge to deliver exemplary patient outcomes and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of medical science.
