Dr Shweta Awasthi is an emergency physician with a growing academic interest in clinical research, medical education, and the systems that shape healthcare delivery. Trained in Emergency Medicine, she has worked in high acuity clinical settings where rapid decision making, uncertainty, and human vulnerability often intersect. Alongside clinical practice, she has remained actively involved in research and academic work, with interests spanning emergency care, physician wellbeing, evidence synthesis, medical education, and patient safety. Her work has included research on burnout among emergency physicians, acute heart failure, airway management, and other clinically relevant questions arising from everyday practice. She has also contributed to medical writing, peer review, case reports, academic presentations, and educational content development. What continues to interest her most is the space between medicine as it is taught and medicine as it is actually lived by patients, physicians, families, and healthcare systems. She is particularly drawn to questions that demand not only scientific rigor, but also judgment, communication, and a wider understanding of social and institutional context. Currently based in Kolkata, Dr Awasthi is building a career that brings together clinical emergency medicine, research, education, and in time, healthcare management and policy. She sees writing as another way of examining medicine closely, its evidence, its imperfections, and the people within it.
