Introduction


Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Gupta is a highly experienced ophthalmologist, currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow.He possesses extensive clinical and surgical expertise, with a credit of more than 5,000 complex vitreo-retinal surgeries, including Scleral Buckling, Pars Plana Vitrectomy, and Phacoemulsification.A key focus of his academic and clinical work is in Medical Retina (managing diseases like Diabetic Retinopathy) and specialized services like the screening and treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and the interdisciplinary management of Retinoblastoma.Dr. Gupta is a recognized pioneer in the use of topical anesthesia for various ophthalmic surgeries (MSICS, Pars Plana Vitrectomy, Trabeculectomy) and has published several papers on this topic. He is deeply involved in teaching, research (including clinical trials for AMD and Uveitis), and is responsible for setting up the vitreo-retina fellowship program at KGMU.
