Introduction


Dr. Sandeep Saxena is a highly distinguished and internationally recognized Senior Professor and Chief of Retina Service in the Department of Ophthalmology at King George's Medical University, Lucknow, specializing in Retina-Vitreous. With M.B.B.S. and M.S. degrees from Lucknow University, and prestigious international qualifications like FRCS (Edinburgh) and FRCS (Glasgow), his career spans over two decades in clinical, academic, and research roles, including major fellowships and visiting professorships at elite institutions in the U.S.A. (St. Louis University, Columbia and Cornell Universities, UNC) and Germany (University of Bonn). He is a prolific author and editor of numerous books and journal articles, notably focusing on Eales' disease and advanced retinal imaging with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and he is the designer of the innovative "Saxena Retinal Grid" for measuring retinal lesions.
