Indian Journal of Research in Anthropology

I am Prasant Kumar Sahoo, currently working as an Asst. Professor of Anthropology at F.M Autonomous College, Balasore, Odisha. I have done my graduation, post-graduation and M. Phil in Anthropology in First Class with Distinction throughout my educational career. I am awaiting my PhD viva in Anthropology as my pre-submission has been completed. I have more than six years of teaching experience including providing free guidance to UPSC/OPSC aspirants and UGC-NET students for anthropology. To count my achievements, I have many success stories. I cleared UGC-JRF in 2012; was selected in ACIO/IB (MHA), Govt. of India; was ranked at 20th in Odisha Civil Services Examination - 2016 and got selected for Odisha Police Service as Dy. SP. But my passion for teaching and research brought me to academics. I have published more than 10 research articles in different national and international journals including several UGC-CARE journals. Two of my articles would be published in edited books (one by Prof Amit Soni). I have co-authored a book titled as “Anthropology of Religion, Politics and Economy”, published by Odisha Text Bureau, the state publication house. To name some of my upcoming books are such as ‘Tribal Anthropology’, ‘Anthropology of Practice’, ‘The Hill Khadias’, ‘Ethno-science’ etc. A practice book set titled as ‘Decoding Anthropology’ is in progress for UGC-NET aspirants. My research areas are: Tribal Studies, Disaster Studies, Museum Studies, Indigenous Knowledge System, Tourism Studies, Studies of Weaker Sections, and Anthropological Methods & Theories. I have presented many papers in national and international seminars and conferences. I am also associated with Odisha State Open University as a faculty member. I am a member of Board of Studies in many colleges. As far as association with IJRA is concerned, I have published one article in this journal last year and one will be published soon.
