Dr. R Prabhakara Rao, currently an Honorary Professor in Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL), Prasanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh, India.He did his B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Nagarjuna University in 1981. He obtained his Master’s and Ph.D. in Statistics from Andhra University in 1990. He was Research Associate(PDF) CSIR, New Delhi during 1990-91. He worked as lecturer in the Dept. of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at the University of Hyderabad, 1991-92. He then joined Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning as a lecturer in 1992. He was the Head, Dept. of Economics from 2012 to 2018 and the Dean, Faculty of Economics and Humanities, SSSIHL, from 2016 to 2020.His specializations are Statistics, Data Science, Forecasting and Econometrics. He was a Visiting Scientist at Memorial University, Canada 2009. He was an executive council member of The Indian Econometric Society and member of several professional bodies. He is a Reviewer of American Mathematical Society and he is referee of several journals. He was awarded “Sai Krishna Award” for excellence in Research in the area of Management, Commerce, Economics and Education in 2013, SSSIHL, Prasnthi Nilayam.He Published more than 100 research papers in peer reviewed international Journals such as Journal of Multivariate Analysis (USA), Canadian Journal of Statistics, Brazilian Journal of Probability and Statistics, Journal of Computations and Simulations (USA), Sankhya: The Indian Journal of Statistics, The Journal of Quantitative Economics, Romanian Economic Journal, Journal of Social and Economic Development, Financial Innovation etc.He attended and delivered invited talks at various national and international conferences/seminars. He conducted several conferences and workshops.He is a member of several academic boards such as convener of Board of studies, member of board of studies various institutes. He is a member of academic council and board of management, SSSIHL.He is a member of Institutional Ethics and Scientific Committee SSSIHMS. He is a Life Member, Indian Society for Probability and Statistics (ISPS), Member, International Indian Statistical Association (IISA) and Member, Executive Council, The Indian Econometric Society.
