Introduction

I am Dr. Victoria Kshetrimayum, an accomplished medical professional and academic currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at RIMS, Imphal. With a robust educational background, including an MBBS and an MD in Biochemistry from prestigious institutions under RGUHS, Karnataka, my core expertise lies in clinical biochemistry, diagnostic medicine, and laboratory quality management. My research focuses intensely on metabolic and endocrine health, with particular interest in the interrelationship between thyroid function, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and cardiovascular disease risk factors like lipid profiles and inflammatory markers such as hs-CRP. My commitment is to bridge the gap between benchside diagnostics and bedside patient care, ensuring accurate and impactful laboratory results.

My academic journey is marked by a strong research focus and notable recognition, including the prestigious Best Paper Award at the AMBI ON 2020 National PG Update CME. I have authored and co-authored sixteen publications in international and national journals, covering key areas such as the utility of Lipoprotein in cardiovascular disease risk, the estimation of thyroid profile in hypothyroid and PCOS patients, and the evaluation of insulin sensitivity in young adults. This dedication to scholarly output is complemented by active involvement in professional bodies, including Life Membership in the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI), reflecting my sustained engagement with the scientific community.

My professional experience is a blend of clinical practice and academic instruction. I have progressed through various roles, starting as a Casualty Medical Officer and House Officer, before dedicating myself to academia as a PG cum Tutor, Senior Resident, and ultimately, an Assistant Professor. This diverse experience has instilled a deep understanding of laboratory operations and clinical needs. Furthermore, I have heavily invested in continuous quality improvement, completing extensive training in Quality Management Systems and Internal Audit as per ISO 15189:2012. I am actively involved as a paper reviewer for multiple journals. I am committed to mentoring the next generation of medical professionals and upholding the highest standards of laboratory quality and ethical research.
