IntroductionI am Dr. Brijendra Singh, a distinguished medical professional and academic leader specializing in Anatomy, with over 30 years of experience in the medical field, including more than 26 years dedicated to teaching. Currently, I serve as the Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at AIIMS, Rishikesh, a position I've held since 2017. My foundational training includes an MBBS and post-graduate degrees of MS (Anatomy) and DNB (Anatomy), cementing my profound expertise in anatomical sciences. Throughout my career at prestigious institutions like AIIMS Rishikesh and AIIMS Jodhpur, I have taken on significant administrative responsibilities, including serving as Ex-Dean of CSR and Social Outreach, and Ex-Medical Superintendent at AIIMS, Rishikesh, demonstrating my commitment to holistic institutional development alongside clinical and academic duties.
My leadership extends significantly to professional bodies, notably serving as the President of the Anatomical Society of India (ASI) from 2020 to 2022, and holding multiple Vice-President and executive committee roles within the ASI and the National Medicos Organisation (NMO). These positions reflect my active role in shaping the field nationally. Academically, I have made substantial contributions through 11 authored books and 100 research publications (72 research papers and 28 abstracts), including numerous articles in PubMed and Scopus-indexed journals, alongside participation as faculty, speaker, and chairperson in over 110 scientific conferences, CMEs, and workshops. My focus on medical education is further evident through my roles as a guide/co-guide for MD/MSc/PhD theses and as an External and Internal Examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduate anatomy programs across multiple universities and AIIMS institutions.
I have been recognized for my dedicated service and contributions with 15 prestigious awards, including the Best Teacher Award at AIIMS Rishikesh (2020 and 2017), the Anga Rachna Vaidya Ratna Award, and the Delhi Ratan Award. My professional life is also deeply intertwined with social service, highlighted by my continuous involvement in health check-up camps, organ donation awareness campaigns (Radio Talk: "Dehdan Mahadan"), and community outreach initiatives. These efforts underscore my dedication not just to medical science, but to public health and social responsibility. I bring a comprehensive blend of administrative, academic, research, and community service excellence to any professional endeavor.
