IntroductionI
am a trauma surgeon by speciality. I have done my MS in General Surgery from
PMCH Patna where I learnt various emergency surgeries and elective open &
laparoscopic abdominal surgeries. Then I
joined Senior Residency at JPN Apex Trauma Centre (AIIMS New Delhi). There I
developed my keen interest in trauma care, so I joined MCh in Trauma Surgery
& Critical Care at AIIMS New Delhi, where I learnt to manage various trauma
cases including polytrauma patients.
After
completing my MCh, I got the opportunity to serve at AIIMS Bhopal as an
Assistant Professor in Trauma & Emergency Medicine on a contractual basis
for around 8 months. Then I joined AIIMS Kalyani in the same department as
Assistant Professor on regular basis.
Currently,
I am an Assistant Professor at AIIMS Bhopal in the same department. Here we run
a dedicated 10 beds paediatric emergency, which is a one stop centre for all
kinds of emergencies in paediatric population.
I
have been actively involved in teaching medical and nursing students about trauma
care and prevention. On the research front, I currently have 6 publications and
2 in the pipeline. My special area of interest is polytrauma management and
developing trauma systems.
Clinically,
I can manage the initial assessment of trauma patients in the ED as per the
ATLS protocol, followed by operative or non-operative intervention as required.
My operative domains are neck injury, thoracic injury, vascular injury,
abdominal trauma, pelvic fractures, open fractures and soft tissue injuries.
