Senior Professor in the Program of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Faculty of
Allied and Healthcare Sciences at Assam Down Town University, Guwahati, Assam,
India, he has become a leading figure in the fields of biomedical research,
paramedical education, and healthcare innovation.
Academic Background
From the outset of his academic journey, Dr.
Jayarajan exhibited a deep curiosity about the microscopic world and its
influence on human health. He pursued his undergraduate studies in University
of Madras, followed by postgraduate studies at Bharathidasan University and
Chaudhary Charan Singh University, specializing in both Microbiology and
Medical Laboratory Technology. His scholarly dedication culminated in a Ph.D.
in Microbiology from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, where his research was
highly commended for its depth and scientific merit.
Professional Career and Academic Appointments
Over the course of his 20-year teaching
career, Dr. Jayarajan has served in prominent academic institutions across
India. He began his professional journey at Divine Mother College, Puducherry,
where he served as Assistant Professor and Head of Department. His leadership
and commitment to academic excellence earned him opportunities to serve as
Professor at Chandigarh University, The Royal Global University, Guwahati, and
currently, Assam Down Town University Guwahati, Assam.
Research Contributions and Innovations
Dr. Jayarajan’s research career spans over 17
years and covers a wide array of subjects including clinical microbiology,
biomedical nanotechnology, and molecular biology. His research has yielded over
80 peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals, including Scopus and Web of
Science indexed publications, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 116. He
has also made significant contributions to microbial gene identification,
depositing more than 50 gene sequences in the NCBI GenBank, USA. Moreover, his
scientific ingenuity is reflected in the 22 Indian patents he has filed and
published, focusing on biosensors, medical diagnostic devices, and nanotechnology-based
drug formulations.

Dr. Jayarajan’s achievements have earned him
numerous national and international accolades. He was conferred the ‘Fellow of
Allied Health Sciences’ in 2025, from Indian
Association of Basic and Paramedical Sciences, Chennai Tamilnadu recognized for his specialization in Medical
Laboratory Sciences. His dedication to education and research excellence has
also earned him the ‘Excellence in Inclusive Education Award’ (2024), ‘Best
Researcher Award’ (2022), and the ‘Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Best Teacher
Award’ (2021). His lifelong commitment to innovation was honored with the
‘Lifetime Achievement Award for Innovations in Research’ in 2021 from Universal Group of Institutions, Lalru,
Chandigarh, Punjab. In addition to these distinctions, he has
received multiple Best Paper Awards at national and international scientific
conferences.
