After colonization freedom India find its own way towards so many things like personal freedom, social development, and economic development. Now we are discussing the term LPG, women empowerment. health-hygiene, globalization, cultural differences. But the basic issue of India is side line due to the journalism. Once up on a time the newspaper were the biggest medium for all of those topics which relates direct or indirect to development. But today’s scenario is shifted to money than development. Newspapers are running after advertisements and they are not worried about social scenario.

Self Help Groups are a potential source to empower and institutionalize participatory leadership among the marginalized and to identify, plan and initiate development activities. This study aims at evaluating the entrepreneurial empowerment of rural women through SHGs in four blocks from Tuticorin District viz, Oottapidaram, Pudur, Vilathikulam and Kayathar. This study is compiled with the help of the primary data covered only three month period (2011). Totally 185 respondents were selected from 54 SHGs (923 total members) of four blocks by using simple random sampling method. The sample size was 20% of the total members in the SHGs. Entrepreneurial activity is the enterprising human action in pursuit of the generation of value, through the creation or expansion of economic activity, by identifying and exploiting new products, process or markets. Entrepreneurial activity includes the entry of new products, the creation of new products or services, and the innovation associated with different business activated. Entrepreneurial activity can therefore be associated with organic as well as acquisitive decision. From the study, 60% respondents were of the view that SHG intensifies the desire to earn more and make a better living. 34 percent of women expressed that SHG increases the desire to learn more professional skills and only 13 percent of women expressed that SHG compete with professional players and the difference was statistically significant The Self Help Group really helps the women folk to participate in organized activities apart from helping members to mobilize funds. The present study concludes that the respondents are economically and social empowered by becoming members of SHGs in Tuticorin District. To conclude, the economic activities of SHGs are quite successful. In this way, SHGs in four blocks from Tuticorin District were very successful to develop entrepreneurial women empowerment and rural areas.

Globalization is a process of disseminating the resources and increasing access in global perspective. Process of globalization has influence on every sphere of society including its basic values, ideals, living style, goals and ambitions. We constantly see in the news that character is set aside for the feeling of the moment. The time has come to bring character to the forefront again and raise the moral values we have as a society, and as individuals. To preserve our rich cultural heritage and old Indian moral values among our students, character education could serve as succor to curriculum planner. Character education is the only remedy to drive away all the ill effects on our children. It is not the sole responsibility of teacher or any educational institute but every unit of our society must come forward to contribute its precious effort. This paper will throw light on the meaning and need of character education. The Role of different agencies for developing the character education in students and other issues will also be discussed.

Objective: The objective of the study was to identify the social consequences of Tsunami among Tsunami-affected people of Kollam district, Kerala following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Methods: The study used descriptive survey design with purposive sampling method to collect data on social consequences among 246 Tsunami-affected people by using self administered questionnaire. Results: The percentages of affected people having social consequences varied from mild to severe levels. Social consequences significantly differed with variables like housing structure before Tsunami (p=0.018), present housing structure (p=0.002), social participation after Tsunami (p=0.044), impact encountered (p=0.001), satisfaction with mental health support received after the Tsunami (p=0.001), loss of loved ones (p=0.011) and initiation of substance abuse (p=0.002). Conclusion: This study provides an initial look into the social consequences of Tsunami affected people in the rehabilitation phase. The study findings indicate that social consequences persists in the affected people long after the disaster. It was also found that the social consequences significantly differ in people according to the impact they encountered, social participation after Tsunami, loss of loved ones, area of relocation, satisfaction with mental health support received after Tsunami and initiation of substance use.

Human Resource is considered to be the most valuable asset in an Organization. It continues to play, even in the computer age, when everybody feels that men have a little role to play. The rate of attrition is increasing every day so that production and profit decrease. Noteworthy is the continuously growing rate of attrition among the IT, ITES and other Software based companies. This has made the companies to take up research studies based on their employees, especially to identify the factors of attrition. This research on the attrition analysis helps to know about the employees’ attitude towards the company and the work, also highlighting various other direct and indirect effects of attrition on production, cost, discipline and efficiency in the industry. The reasons influencing the attrition such as low satisfaction level in salary, practices followed by local players, relationship with immediate boss, work stress, etc. were found to be common among most of the IT companies. This research discusses the remedial measures and those recommendations that can be considered by the companies positively to reduce attrition in the days to come.
