Introduction: Childbirth is a life-altering experience for every woman, particularly for firsttime mothers (primiparas). The postpartum pe riod is a crucial time when a mother requires special care, including perineal care, to ensure optimal recovery and prevent complications. This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the effect of a structured teaching program on the knowledge of perineal care among primipara mothers. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted on 60 primipara mothers who were randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. The intervention group received a structured teaching programme on perineal care, while the control group received routine care. Pre and post-test assessments were conducted to evaluate the knowledge of both groups. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and chi-square tests. Results: The study found a significant improvement in knowledge regarding perineal care among the intervention group (p<0.0001), while no significant improvement was observed in the control group (p=0.11). The chi-square test also showed no significant association between knowledge and demographic variables such as age, area of residence, educational status, religion, occupation, and type of family. Conclusion: The structured teaching programme was effective in improving the knowledge of primipara mothers regarding perineal care. The study suggests that healthcare providers should incorporate structured teaching programmes in their routine care to improve the knowledge of mothers regarding perineal care.

The researcher conducted a true experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of the structured teaching programme on knowledge of polycystic ovarian disease among adolescent girls in the selected schools of Rohtas, Bihar, India. The study was conducted among randomly selected 60 adolescent girls from the selected schools of Rohtas, Bihar. After obtaining the research consent from the participants the researcher assessed the knowledge level of the study participants using a self-administered tool, semi structured questionnaire on polycystic ovarian disease. After which the structured teaching programme was administered to the participants followed by a post-test. After organizing and analyzing the data the researcher found that out of 60 study participants highly 63.3% of girls had average knowledge, 26.7% of girls had poor knowledge and 10% of girls had good knowledge during the pre-test knowledge score. After the planned teaching programme differently changed the girl’s knowledge, whereas the post-test knowledge score majority of 95% of girls had good knowledge, 35% of girls had average knowledge regarding the prevention and management of polycystic ovarian disease. The paired “t” value comparison was 19.49 while df 59 and the p-value for this comparison was significant (0.0001) which is less than the normal p-value (<0.02), study conclude that the planned teaching programme was proved significantly higher effective in improving the knowledge of adolescent girls regarding polycystic ovarian disease. On associating the demographic variable with the pre-test knowledge, it showed that there was no significant association. The Majority of the adolescent girls has no knowledge regarding PCOD. Deficit of knowledge regarding prevention and management of PCOD existed in varying degree of adolescent girls in all the learning area. The structured Teaching Programme utilized in this study was effective in imparting the knowledge of prevention and management of PCOD.

Aim: Review aims to throw light on the historical evolution of various birthing positions used, scientific relevance of alternate birthing positions, the circumstances that led to a shift in birthing position to horizontal ones and the factors currently existing nowadays that hinders the adoption of alternate birthing positions. Background: Evidence-based knowledge suggests that the positions taken by women during labour have a tremendous effect on the maternal and neonatal birth outcomes. Women in birth should be permitted to select the position of their choice to birth, preferably alternative birthing positions (including upright, kneeling, squatting and lateral positions) during labour. Now a days, most parturients deliver in a semi-recumbent, lithotomy or dorsal, positions. Hospital admission of laboring women leads to disruptive practices that restrains spontaneous and instinctive attitude of laboring women and the focus is strictly only on intrapartum fetal wellbeing and maternal co morbidities. Respect to women’s choice of birthing position and comfort is mostly underrated. Clinical Significance: Traditionally, laboring women used physiologically appropriate labor positions such as sitting up right, squatting, and even standing in the birthing process. A pregnant woman delivered her infant in more natural physical positions that allowed for flexing of the hips, straightening the pelvis and facilitating the use of gravity, all of which facilitated the fetus moving through the birth canal. Birthing positions can serve as a nonmedical intervention to improve birth outcomes. Understanding of scientific relevance of alternate birthing positions, the circumstances that led to a shift in birthing position to horizontal ones and the factors currently existing nowadays that hinders the adoption of alternate birthing positions can help in adopting policies and practices that can promote position changes during labour process that suits the choice, satisfaction and comfort of mother also leading to a positive child birth experience.
