Background: SARS-CoV-2 infects multiple critical organs such as the kidney, besides the lungs. Acute kidney injury caused after coronavirus disease requires immediate renal replacement therapy. In this case report, we present a new case of developing severe acute renal failure after testing positive for COVID-19. Case Description: This case was tested positive for COVID-19 twice. After the second testing, his renal function test increased drastically (serum creatinine, 9.68 mg/dl and urea 155mg/dl) along with deranged serum ferritin,823.6ng/ ml; CRP, 4.61mg/dl; leucocytes, 12 × 1000 cells/cubic mm; D-Dimer, 269ng/ml and was diagnosed with severe acute renal failure after corroboration with radiological investigations. He was aggressively treated with renal replacement therapy (5 cycles of hemodialysis) for renal injury along with other conservative management for COVID-19 disease. After 14 days of hospitalisation, he became clinically stable with normal renal function and was tested negative for COVID-19. He resumed all his normal activities immediately after hospitalisation, and resumed duty after 3 weeks of post-discharge. Clinical Relevance: Normal blood renal function test before the COVID-19 infection, sudden increase of blood values during the infection period, and reaching back to the normal range after treating the infection was highly suggestive of COVID-19 triggered severe acute renal failure. Regular monitoring of renal parameters along with other investigations is essential for managing the complications raised from COVID-19 infection. Health professionals need to be aware of kidney disease presentation during COVID-19 infection.

Bangladesh is facing a multi-dimensional crisis with the advent of COVID-19 pandemic. A good relation between people and health system is a crucial determinant for acceptance of public health interventions during the pandemic. Bangladesh has a robust primary healthcare system and achieved some milestone MDG indicators. At the dawn of the pandemic, government took various economic and public health measures to combat the pandemic. However, the reports of corruption allegations and disruptions of core service deliveries in the healthcare system showed erosion of public trust.

Flood accounts for about 40% of all natural disasters worldwide and half of all deaths from disasters. Asia, which is more prone to floods, accounted for roughly 93% of all flood-related deaths worldwide between 1987 and 1997. Between June 1 and August 18, 2018, Kerala experienced the worst ever floods in its history since 1924. In a span of 30 days, 339 human lives were lost, thousands of houses damaged, over a million and half people were moved to relief camps, large stretches of major roads got washed away and many bridges got damaged. The present study focuses on assessing the selected biopsychosocial impacts among flood survivors in selected flood affected area, Thrissur District. The objectives of the study were to assess the selected biopsychosocial impacts among flood survivors, to associate the selected biopsychosocial impacts among flood survivors with their selected demographic variables and to prepare and distribute information leaflet on disaster survival kit. The conceptual model was Sister Calista Roy’s adaptation model. The design of the study was descriptive survey design, conducted on 100 households selected by convenience sampling. The tools used were demographic profile and biopsychosocial impacts assessment scale. Following that the researcher distributed an information leaflet regarding disaster survival kit. The findings revealed that majority 80 (80%) of flood survivors had mild biopsychosocial impact and 20 (20%) had moderate biopsychosocial impact and no one had severe impact after flood. The analysis showed that there is a significant association between biopsychosocial impacts among flood survivors with their variable ‘educational status.

Risk perception influences the behavior of the people. With gradual unlocking in India it is important to understand the perceived risk of people for COVID-19 issue as it might influence number of new positive cases in India. We conducted an online survey which measured the perceived risk under two domain, risk perception of disease and trust people have in authorities and themselves to fight against COVID-19. SPSS 23.0 was used for data analysis.we found that out of 797. Only participants above age of 60 have high risk perception. But overall risk perception is low. All have high trust in scientist to develop an effective vaccine soon. The overall trust of participants is high which resulted in low risk perception. According to our study participants have low perceived risk. With low perceived risk, there and chances of increase of cases in COVID-19 positive patients. And people should not be misled by false sense of immunity and authorities should be prepared for second wave.
