A 2-year-old pregnant Labrador bitch in second parity was presented to Veterinary Clinical Complex, A.N.D.U.A.T. Kumarganj, Ayodhya, with a history of complete gestation lasting 64 days. The dog exhibited anorexia and straining since 24 hours, yet unable to deliver foetuses. On clinical examination, the rectal temperature was 102°F. The vital parameters such as pulse rate, heart rate, and respiration rate were slightly elevated. The conjuctival mucous membrane colour appeared normal and pinkish. Per vaginal examination revealed a dilated cervix, and radiographic examination confirmed the presence of more than 5 foetuses. Considering the condition, a prompt decision was made to perform elective caesarean section (C section). Following C section, 9 live pups were delivered. The outcome highlights the importance of quick and precise decisions in critical situations to save the life of foetus and bitch.
 

Pyometra is a life-threatening uterine infection in intact female dogs, commonly caused by Escherichia coli. This report presents a case of open cervix pyometra in a six-year-old intact female Rottweiler, which was presented to the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the College of Veterinary Science, Parbhani, MAFSU, with a 10-day history of anorexia, lethargy, depression, vomiting, polydipsia, polyuria, and sanguinopurulent haemorrhagic vaginal discharge, with no history of mating. Clinical examination revealed dehydration, abdominal distension, leucocytosis (58,000 cells/mm³), neutrophilia, thrombocytopenia (78,000 cells/mm³), and elevated blood urea nitrogen (56.7 mg/dL), indicating systemic involvement. Ultrasonography confirmed a fluidfilled, distended uterus. Based on the history, clinical signs, and ultrasonographic findings, the case was diagnosed as open-cervix pyometra. The dog was stabilized with intravenous fluids, antibiotics (ceftriaxone-tazobactam), and NSAIDs before undergoing ovariohysterectomy under general anaesthesia. The pusfilled uterus was surgically removed, and post-operative management included antibiotics and analgesics. The patient recovered uneventfully, with sutures removed on the 15th postoperative day. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis, medical stabilization, and surgical intervention in managing pyometra. Ovariohysterectomy remains the gold standard treatment, preventing recurrence and improving survival outcomes.
 

Development of novel dairy products is gaining importance due to an increased consumer demand for palatable, healthy, and minimally processed products. Ultrasonic processing or sonication is a promising alternative technology in the food industry as it has potential to improve the technological and functional properties of milk and dairy products. This review presents a detailed summary of the latest research on the impact of high-intensity ultrasound techniques in dairy processing. It explores the ways in which ultrasound has been employed to enhance milk properties and processes of interest to the dairy industry, such as homogenization, emulsification, yogurt and fermented beverages production, and food safety. Special emphasis has been given to ultrasonic effects on milk components; fermentation and spoilage by microorganisms; and the technological, functional, and sensory properties of dairy foods. Several  current and potential applications of ultrasound as a processing technique in milk applications are also discussed in this review.  
 

Background: Babesia infection in small ruminants especially in sheep can cause a wide range of clinical and laboratory presentations. Babesia ovis plays an important role in causing anemia and other hemotological changes in affected sheep.  Aim: Therefore, the present study was conducted to analyze and compare hematological parameters between blood profiles of Nellore brown sheep naturally infected and uninfected with Babesia ovis, the main causative agent of ovine babesiosis.  Material and Methods: The present study was carried out to record the haematological changes in Nellore brown sheep affected with babesiosis. Total 22 adult sheep were identified from a sheep flock (n=187), suffering with the clinical babesiosis. Microscopic examination of the stained peripheral blood smears confirmed the presence of Babesia organisms. Affected sheep showed fever, anorexia, suspended rumination, weakness, lethargy, haemoglobinuria and progressive emaciation. Results: Significantly reduced hemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume (PCV), red blood cell count, whereas significantly elevated total leukocyte count and eosinophil count were noticed. All the affected sheep were successfully treated with diminazene aceturate, oxytetracycline dihydrate, hematinic along with the electrolyte therapy.  Conclusion: The Present study reveal that a significant reduction in erythrocyte count, hemoglobin concentration and PCV, a significant increase in total leukocyte count and eosinophil count in sheep affected with babesiosis.
