Abstract The study was conducted, in Sonwal watershed of Shahada taluka, Nandurbar district, Maharashtra with an area of 9934 ha, located in 74° 53´ to 74°75´ N and 21°54´ to 21°62´ E for estimation of sediment yield using Garde’s method. The observed sediment yield of the Sonwal watershed in 2002-03 was 5.88 t/ha/yr. However, it was found 10.22 t/ha/yr in 2008-09, with an increase of 4.34 t/ha/yr. The estimated sediment yield of the watershed for the year 2002-03 using Garde’s equation was found to be 12.37 t/ha/year with per cent change in observed and estimated sediment yield, 110.37. The estimated sediment yield of the watershed for the year 2008-09 was found to be 14.82 t/ha/year with per cent change in observed and estimated sediment yield, 45. To reduce the rate of increase of sediment yield, the agriculture area needs to be increased by decreasing the wastes land besides, the watershed development program need to be implemented effectively to reduce the sediment yield or soil loss. Abstract Background of the Study: The term “plastic” is derived from a Greek ward “plastikos” which means “fit for molding”. Plastics are used on a daily basis throughout the world. The “plastic” is a common word that is used for many materials that are synthetic and semi synthetic in nature. Plastic bags are light, sturdy and easy to carry. They are cheaper than paper. From the mid 1980s, the use of plastic bags became common for carrying daily groceries from the store to vehicles and homes. Plastic is not biodegradable. When buried plastic will choke the drainage and when burnt plastics will emit poisonous gas. Aim of the Study: To evaluate the effectiveness of structure teaching programme on knowledge regarding hazards of plastic use and its safe disposal among the housewives. Material and Methods: A Pre-experimental, one group pre-test & post-test design with a quantitative research approach was utilized to test the proposed hypotheses. For structured teaching programme, lesson plan was prepared regarding hazard of plastic use and its safe disposal. Pilot study was done under the 3 women at Dihen, Olpad. Pilot study revealed that the tools were feasible for conduction of the study and the structured teaching programme was effective. The main study sample consisted of 30 Housewives residing in a rural area at Kudiyana, Olpad. The research setting was Dihen and Kudiyana, Olpad, Surat, Gujarat. The Non-Probability convenience sampling technique was used for the study. The data were analyzed and hypothesis was tested using descriptive and inferential statistics. Conclusion: The findings of the study showed that the structured teaching programme was very effective in improving the level of knowledge. Abstract

Fish, one of the most significant source of animal protein, is a major component of a balanced low-fat healthy diet, and it is a good source of a number of beneficial compounds. In particular, white fleshed fish, is lesser in fat than any other source of animal protein, and oily fish are high in omega-3 fatty acids, or the “good” fats. Fish are low in the “bad” fats usually found in red meat, called omega-6 fatty acids. The present study was carried out in Southern part of Kashmir in J&K region with the aim to access the consumer’s behavior towards fish consumption and awareness about the health benefits of eating fish. In this paper, stratified random sampling technique was adopted to collect the data from a sample of 400 respondents using well-designed validated questionnaire. The results of our study revealed that cultural, socioeconomic factors like financial status of people, education status of the family head, awareness about the health benefits of eating fish, cost and availability of fish in the market of Kashmir valley plays an important role in fish consumption among the people of district Anantnag of Kashmir valley. It was noticed that majority of the respondents understudy (27.0%) preferred Trout, 29.5% preferred Carp, 11.0 % preferred Schizothorax and 32.5% respondents had no specific choice. Further, group discussion with people involved in fisheries business revealed that 73.5% respondents believe that there is a great scope for fish farming in Kashmir valley. Finally, the researchers discussed the health benefits of eating fish and marketing problems of fish in Kashmir valley. Keywords: Fish; Kashmir; Socio-economics; Consumer Preference; Statistics.
