Unlike adult trauma, pediatric trauma presents unique physiological, psychological, and developmental challenges that necessitate specialized nursing interventions. This article provides a comprehensive overview of best practices in pediatric trauma nursing care, emphasizing the critical components from initial assessment and resuscitation to psychological support and family-centered care. Drawing upon established guidelines and evidence-based practices, it outlines a methodical approach to ensure optimal outcomes for injured children. Pediatric accidents are a major public health challenge in India and globally, contributing significantly to morbidity, mortality, and enduring effects on children’s quality of life. These accidents which are commonly known as unintentional injuries are a leading cause of hospital admissions among children, placing a considerable strain on healthcare resources. This paper aims to deliver a comprehensive analysis of the epidemiology of paediatric accidents in India, with a particular focus on hospital admissions, associated morbidity and mortality, and the long-term consequences on lifespan and quality of life. Further, the authors aim to review the existing legal framework related to child safety and injury prevention in India and also assess the effective implementation of current laws in India. Moreover, the authors also try to provide the practical interventions and strategies designed to reduce the occurrence of paediatric accidents. Lastly, the author would also highlight the role of community engagement, public awareness campaigns, and policy measures. Effective public health prevention strategies for child health must integrate legislation, regulation, and enforcement with environmental modifications, education, skill-building, and emergency medical care. These efforts should be guided by the levels of prevention and principles of targeted interventions to comprehensively tackle child health challenges. This paper by integrating existing data and evaluating ongoing efforts would help to draft and implement future initiatives aimed at reducing the burden of paediatric injuries across India.
