American association for cancer education had emphasized the role of structured educational programs for medical students and residents in primary care specialties in order to improve palliative oncology education. Dissatisfaction with the conventional methods of clinical assessment on the part of teachers and students led assessors to search for appropriate alternatives and in 1975, Harden and his colleagues introduced the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). OSCE was introduced as a standardized tool for objectively assessing clinical competencies - including history-taking, physical examination, communication skills, data interpretation etc. It consists of a circuit of stations connected in series, with each station devoted to assessment of a particular competency using pre-determined guidelines or checklists. The Structured Clinical Instruction Module (SCIM) modifies the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for teaching purposes. The objective of this review is to provide a focused update on the status and applicability of SCIM and OSCE in cancer for educational use in palliative care. From the 12 studies which were on OSCE and 6 studies which were on SCIM, it appears that the two competency-based evaluation methodologies used in cancer education namely the OSCE and SCIM, are well validated and reliably used across settings and samples of students, practitioners and patients. Future studies in Indian palliative care settings are warranted prior to extrapolation of existing evidence.

Information literacy is set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyse for efficient use of information. In the information age, the information literacy skills are essential, since the explosion of information output and information sources. The literature growth in the field of medicine, unassessable and ever growing in exponential ratio and quick obsolence. In this context the medical students are find difficulties in getting awareness and availability of resources in the electronic forms for their day to day activities. As such, the study is carried out among the student users of Ragas Dental college library, which is one of the leading library in the field of dentistry. The results show that students are having ICT skills along with knowledge about Social Networking Sites (SNS) . Though, the information literacy programmes run by the library are effective to the students but not bringing out expected results.

The need for perfection and improvement in the quality of medical treatment in field of oral health has become quite apparent in present Indian scenario. Incredible volume of medical information, its everincreasing nature, invention of new diagnostic methods and rejection of previous techniques and medicines necessitate access to the most recent information in the field. This paper provides a picture of the information seeking behaviour of the dentists in Indian metros. The aim of this study is to investigate how the Dentists obtain the information they require. It also attempts to investigate the type of library resources that these groups use as well as the problems they face while seeking information.

The article examines that most of the Associate Professors are highly aware of the availability of Scholarly journals are accessing through UGC-Infonet. The study reveals the Professors and Associate Professors largely use them for teaching purposes and Assistant professors use the resources for studying purpose. The faculty members from Science and Humanities they acquire the experience for accessing the Scholarly journals in particularly Professors and Associate professor are obtained the guidance form the Library staff and Assistant Professors are guidance from the senior faculty members to seek the experience of Scholarly journals access. It is however found that lack of training for accessing is the obstacle in proper and full utilization of Scholarly journals. The paper will help other institutes understand the need for library electronic resources, and motivate them to update the electronic resources in the focal interest of the faculty members in Alagappa University. The paper also indicates how a suitably designed survey can show the searching publishers provide the full text articles based on this preference given to JCCC gate way of Scholarly journals providers and it followed by springer link articles highly used by the team of  the faculty members.

This paper reviews websites of university libraries that pertain to methodological, and usability approaches to website evaluation. The paper analyzes the initial work and continues up to recent developments in website evaluation. In general, based on a set of website evaluation criteria’s like Authority, Purpose, Coverage, Currency Objectivity, Superstructure, Graphics, Use of color, Content, egibility, Page layout, Hyperlinks, Promotion, Searching and FAQ, these evaluation criteria’s are the platform for the checking up the status of the university websites. The strengths and weaknesses of each method are examined. Research gaps and opportunities for future studies are discussed. Situation can only be improved if the University & their library websites update the latest information on a regular intervals, or the latest happenings comes in. And preparing a model for the university libraries websites.

The research in the field of science and technology significantly contribute to the growth and development of a country. Particularly the Green Revolution and the White Revolution has a significant role in the growth and development of India. To measure the quality and quantity of the scientific contributions, one can apply the technique known as Scientometrics. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database containing both peer-reviewed research literature and quality web sources which consists more than forty six millions of records from 19000 titles of 5000 international publishers. The present study is an attempt to identify the various bibliometric aspects of the scientific contributions of the researchers and faculty of CCSHAU, Hisar published between 2003 and 2012. For this purpose the Scopus online database and search facilities are used. Most of these are research articles published in various journals. The average number of authors per contribution is 3.55. The degree of collaboration is 0.99. There is a decrease in the number of contribution during the last five years. The CCSHAU researchers and scientists had foreign research collaboration with thirty-three countries. The study clearly indicates that the sole research (authorship) trend is now over and collective research trend is in force.

Many times they have to look towards university authorities and government policies in order to get trained manpower, funds, infrastructures etc. The present paper describes the satisfaction level observed in six university libraries.
