Background: Age estimation is one of most important factors employed in establishing the   identity of an individual and in dentistry.it is performed to determine dental age of child patient    which in many instances is delayed or advanced in relation to their chronological age. Orthodontic  and Myofunctional treatments are planned as per dental age rather than chronological age of
child. Demirjian’s method of age estimation was found to differ in different regions all over  world. Aim: Evaluate the accuracy of dental age estimation, in children aged 6-10 years, using modified  Demirjian’s Method in region of Mahe and to determine its applicability in Mahe region. Materials & Methodology: Study sample consisted of orthopantomograms of 160 subjects (80
boys and 80 girls). Using Demirjian’s method, modified by Acharya, all OPGs were analysed, in  which each tooth stage was rated to obtain a total dental maturity score which was substituted into regression formula to get dental age of each patient. Result was tabulated and statistically analysed. The differences between CA and DA were analysed by the paired sample t-test and
Pearson’s correlation analysis. Results: The results of study showed that Demirjian's technique overestimated CA by 2.8(±2.1)
years and 2.6(±1.9) years in girls and boys respectively, in children of Mahe. Mahe-specific  regression formula was derived as a correction factor. Conclusion:Modified Demirjian’s method is an area specific method of dental age determina tion   and will be applicable to children of Mahe only by using a Mahe specific regression formula 

Introduction: Accurate sex identification from skeletal remains is critical in forensic   anthropology and dentistry. This study explored sexual dimorphism in mandibular morphological   parameters, focusing on the positions of the mental foramen and genial tubercles.
Materials and Methods: Conducted at the Department of Oral Pathology, JMF ACPM Dental  College, this study analyzed cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) records of 52 patients  (26 males, 26 females) collected during 2020-2024. Ethical clearance was obtained, and informed   consent was obtained. Measurements included the vertical position and angle of the mental
foramen, and the position of the genial tubercles. Reliability was ensured through repeated   measurements by two independent observers. Results: Significant differences were observed between males and females. Males had a   greater distance from the lower margin to the center of the mental foramen (mean 7.84 ± 1.84 mm vs. 6.51 ± 1.21 mm, p = 0.003) and a larger angle of the mental foramen (mean 55.00° ± 12.50° vs.   46.00° ± 8.90°, p = 0.004). The position of the genial tubercles was more inferior in males, with a significant difference in the distance from the upper margin (mean 12.34 ± 3.45 mm vs. 10.81 ±  1.45 mm, p = 0.042).
Discussion: The results demonstrated significant sexual dimorphism in mandibular   parameters. Males exhibited larger and more robust mandibular features, likely influenced by  hormonal and muscular differences.  Conclusion: This study confirms that mandibular morphological characteristics exhibit significant sexual dimorphism, aiding forensic gender determination within the Indian   population. Future studies should expand the sa mple size and include diverse populations for broader applicability
 

Background and Purpose: The gold standard for achieving optimal esthetics while recreating  the esthetics has been in accordance with the concept of ‘Golden Proportion’. The main purpose  for conducting the present study was to estimate an average value of mesiodistal dimensions of   the maxillary anterior teeth in the mixed population of northern India and its correlation with the
ideal values of golden proportion.  Methodology: In the present study 100 subjects were selected (50 male and 50 female).
Maxillary impressions were made using Non-aqueous elastomeric impression material and   poured with dental stone. The dimensions Maxillary anterior teeth measured using digital  vernier caliper. The widths of the teeth were measured from the mesial contact point to distal  contact point of the respective teeth.  Results: Data obtained were tabulated and subjected to one sample t-test. The proportion for  the Width of the right and left Maxillary Lateral to central Incisor was found to be 0.70 mm, and
it was not in correlation with golden proportion. For the canine to lateral incisor, it was identified  that there was a correlation with golden proportion with the results obtained was 0.60 mm.  Conclusion: The results obtained for the ratio of the Maxillary Right and Left Lateral Incisor   to Central Incisor and golden proportion were not in correlation. However, the results obtained  for the ratio of the Maxillary Right and Left Canine to Lateral Incisor and Golden Proportion  were in correlation.
