Background: Advancements in restorative dentistry, especially all-ceramic restorations, have improved aesthetics, biocompatibility, and durability. The emergence of digital impression techniques has sparked debate over their clinical efficiency and accuracy compared to conventional methods in fabricating zirconia crowns. Objectives: To evaluate the marginal fit of zirconia crowns fabricated using conventional and digital impressions. 2. To assess prosthodontic outcomes between the two techniques. 3. To compare patient-centered outcomes across both groups. Methods: Twenty-one patients requiring zirconia crowns for contralateral mandibular posterior teeth were selected and divided into two groups: Group A (conventional impression) and Group B (digital impression). Crowns were fabricated using CAD/CAM. Marginal fit was assessed using a stereomicroscope (40X magnification), prosthodontic outcomes via USPHS criteria, and patient satisfaction using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data were analysed with SPSS v26 (p < 0.05). Results: Digital impressions resulted in superior marginal fit, better occlusal contacts, and improved colour matching. Patient satisfaction was higher in the digital group. Both groups produced clinically acceptable crowns, but digital impressions showed fewer marginal discrepancies and better overall prosthodontic outcomes. Conclusion: Digital impression techniques offer greater accuracy, efficiency, and patient comfort compared to conventional methods. Given their superior performance in key clinical parameters, they represent a preferred approach in contemporary prosthodontic practice.

Aim: The aim of this study is to correlate the salivary Malondialdehyde (MDA) and 8-Hydroxy-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in residual ridge resorption in completely edentulous diabetic patients. Materials and Method: The study included completely edentulous diabetic and non-diabetic patients, selected based on specific inclusion/exclusion criteria. A total of 48 saliva samples were collected from 24 participants. Saliva was collected under standardized conditions and analyzed for oxidative stress markers Malondialdehyde (MDA) using spectrophotometry and 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) using ELISA. Residual ridge resorption was assessed radiographically using orthopantomograms and categorized per ADA (1999) criteria. Statistical analyses, including Pearson’s correlation and regression models, were employed to evaluate the relationship between oxidative stress markers and resorption severity. Ethical approval and informed consent were obtained. Statistical Analysis and Results: 48 saliva samples from diabetic and nondiabetic edentulous patients (n=24 per group). Biomarkers MDA and 8-OHdG were measured using spectrophotometry and ELISA, respectively. Statistical analysis (SPSS v23.0) included parametric and non-parametric tests based on data distribution, with significance set at p<0.05. Results showed higher mean absorbance levels of MDA and 8-OHdG in nondiabetics compared to diabetics, though differences were not statistically significant. A positive correlation between MDA and 8-OHdG indicated a link between lipid peroxidation and oxidative DNA damage. These findings suggest elevated oxidative stress markers in non-diabetics, potentially reflecting adaptive metabolic responses in diabetics. Conclusion: within the limitations of the study, Significant role of oxidative stress in residual ridge resorption (RRR), as evidenced by elevated levels of salivary biomarkers MDA and 8-OHdG in edentulous patients. Non-diabetic individuals exhibited higher levels of both biomarkers, suggesting variability in oxidative stress responses, possibly due to adaptive mechanisms in diabetic patients. A strong positive correlation between MDA and 8-OHdG further supports their reliability as salivary indicators for assessing the severity of RRR.

Background: Color stability of denture base resins is critical for long-term esthetics and patient satisfaction. Commercial denture cleansers are effective but may affect the color stability of acrylic resins. Herbal alternatives offer potential advantages with fewer side effects. Aim: To evaluate and compare the effect of herbal extracts and commercial denture cleansers on the color stability of heat-polymerized acrylic denture base resin. Materials and Methods: A total of 36 acrylic resin specimens were fabricated and divided into four groups (n=9) based on cleansing solution: Group I – Clinsodent, Group II – Distilled Water, Group III – Oradox, and Group IV – Origanum Oil. All samples were stained with turmeric, tea, and coffee solutions, then subjected to respective cleansing agents for 10 days. Color changes were measured at baseline, post-staining, and post-cleansing using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer and analyzed via CIELAB parameters (∆E). Data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey’s post hoc test. Results: Origanum oil (Group IV) demonstrated the highest color stability (∆E = 77.91 ± 0.13), followed by Oradox (76.01 ± 0.13), Clinsodent (75.35 ± 0.16), and distilled water (72.83 ± 0.20). The ageing population represents a significant milestone in human progress. However, with increasing age comes a rise in chronic diseases, many of which have oral health implications. The worldwide increase in the geriatric population has reshaped healthcare systems, but the oral health care system is still lacking in most of the developing and underdeveloped countries. This is due to the dearth of trained dentists in this field. The late 1970s first acknowledged the need for geriatric dental education. It highlighted the importance of oral health in the geriatric population. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce geriatric dental education right from the graduate level so that the future dentists can deliver not only efficient oral health services to the geriatric patients without any apprehension or hesitation but also have empathy and a proactive mindset when addressing the needs of older adults. Training is necessary for dental students, as their perspective significantly impacts treatment success and patient satisfaction. This can be achieved by introducing new curricula and trained faculty to ensure that the students are confident and well-trained when they graduate from a dental college.

A surgical ciliated cyst of the maxilla is a rare, benign lesion that arises in the maxillary sinus or surrounding areas, characterized by its lining of ciliated epithelial cells. These cysts are typically filled with mucous and are often asymptomatic but can cause problems due to their location, leading to symptoms like facial pain, sinus infections, or obstructed nasal airflow. Surgical removal is often necessary, especially if the cyst is large or symptomatic. We report a case of Surgical ciliated cyst of left maxillary sinus in 30 years-old male patient possibly after a surgical extraction of tooth, for which enucleation was done as a treatment modality resulting in good outcomes.

Newman and Friedman proposed a new technique using extraoral approach to take periapical radiographs in certain patients who can’t tolerate film or sensors inside their mouth. Here we are presenting some cases using extraoral periapical approach for patients with trismus, patient having gag reflex and pediatric apprehensive patients in which use of intraoral periapical radiography is not possible. This technique can be used as alternative to intraoral periapical technique in certain patients with comparable diagnostic value but can’t replace it in routine dental practice. Aims: To evaluate diagnostic importance Extraoral periapical radiographic technique Settings and Design: Observational study. Methods and Material: The study was conducted in oral radiology department using Bio-Dent-1070 D (Biodent Bio medicare Imaging) dental x-ray unit; 70 kvp, 10 mAs, 0.03-0.05 sec, 2mm aluminum filtration. Results: The radiographs obtained by extraoral periapical radiographic method showed satisfactory diagnostic quality as compared to conventional intraoral radiographs. Conclusions: Extraoral periapical technique can be advisable in certain situations where intraoral use of films or sensors are not possible but it can’t replace conventional intraoral periapical technique. More standardization is recommended to get better diagnostic images in this technique

Implant supported prostheses, particularly the All-on-4 technique, have revolutionized dental rehabilitation for patients with severe edentulism or failing dentition. This method offers aesthetic restorations with fewer implants and reduced surgical complexity. However, challenges like inadequate bone volume may require alternative approaches, such as combining a hybrid prosthesis with All-on-4 implants opposed by an implant-supported overdenture. This hybrid solution balances the stability of implants with the flexibility of removable prostheses. Key treatment considerations include patient selection, diagnostic imaging, surgical protocols for osseointegration, and prosthetic design. Postoperative care is also crucial for long-term success. This case report reviews the application of this hybrid approach, offering insights on its rationale, planning, and execution, and helping clinicians better address the needs of edentulous patients for improved oral health and quality of life.
